It sounds like a Generic,Bad Grammer response which fits the format of a Scam in the making. But who knows, reply to him & see what he wants to do next.If it is a Scammer, send it to Mac(GOAT72)& let him take it from there.
This could be fun. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Scam for sure. There is no mention of what you are selling. You could be selling anything from a book to an airplane and get the same email. No question about the item. Respond to it and see what he has to say.

This looks like the same kind of e-mail i received from a guy claiming to have an ls6 chevelle and wanted $14000.00 for the car and it was restored, the funny thing was is the car looked an awful lot like a friend of mines i helped sell a year ago. Also,he had the same poor writing and signed his name smith, and also wanted me to send the money over seas!

Al,
Can you PM me the email with the FULL HEADER?
This is the latest.
Africans, mostly Nigerians, are producing fake money orders and sending several thousand dollars "extra." They want you to cash the check and forward the balance to their "shipping agents".
7 days later your bank returns the check to you as bogus and you're out the $$ you forwarded to the agent.

BTW: Just posted my second bait of another eBay scammer.
This guy was "selling" a '67 Camaro.
Then he had this 'Vette.....
Anyway, here's the latest bait thread for anyone who needs a laugh. It has lots of subtle jokes and ridiculous circumstances that the scammer completely fell for.

ALbert,
There are a couple of guys baitin' scammers from the SYC now.
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif
if we keep 'em guessing they may throw up their hands.
If you play this guy it's always smarter to use an alias, or throwaway email address, unless you just want to see which way he runs with the ball.

If you receive a check in the mail from him, you will have a TROPHY that most419eater.com (http://www.419eater.com) baitsmen would kill for!

If anyone else is interested in killing eBay Motors scams, please PM me. I might start a group, as I have several others who are actively seeking these classic cars scammers.
They are VERY busy on Sunday nights at eBay Motors.

Sounds pretty close to the email I got when I was selling our waverunner...the guy was in Africa or somewhere but had a friend in England that owed him money. The guy in England was gonna send me a check for the amount of the waverunner and the balance he owed his buddy in Africa (like 5-grand!)...I was to send the extra $5k to the guy in Africa. Yeah, right... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

hi,
a fellow i work with just had the same thing happen to him.
he sold a camero on ebay, the guy sent him a bank check,
with the shipping included in it and he was to pay the shipper with the extra.
his bank cashed it, then found it to be phony, now his account is frozen. thankfully he still has the car. the bank didn't wait till it cleared and are blaming him. he's fighting it
i think i have alerted e-bay fraud dept at least a dozen times about differnt cars. so far i've been correct that they were scams.

Am I the only one getting tired of all of this scam s**t on
eBay? Don't mis-understand me. It's comforting that those
of us that see these things bring them to eBay's attention.
But, enough has to be enough! EBay needs to get the message
that it needs to be their responsibility to look for
questionable auctions like these ( VIN plates too ) and get proactive about stopping them. I've addressed this topic
before and I'm sure many of you feel the same way. Perhaps
we should do some type of mass emailing from the Yenko site
and maybe eBay will get the message. We could do it from
the CRG also!
Is that feasible? Can any if the administrators chime in
on this?

I don't think it's Ebay's responsibility at all ! I have written them before to look at an auction that was selling a 67 chevelle, the pictures were from a friends car and I knew he was not selling it, they did end the auction and I received an e-mail back from them saying thanx for the "heads up" ! Beyond that I don't think they are in it for any reason but $$$$$, remember Ebay Motors is just a small part of what they do! Steve,
The only reason I invest my nights chasing scammers from eBay Motors is because eBay does nothing. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
I have not only emailed them several times and shut down several auctions, but I have also HANDEDthem the scammers' Western Union pick-up locations and the tracking numbers in advance of the bogus transfer!
eBay doesn't give a rat's a$$ about the scams or who gets hurt by them. They only care about collecting their auction fees and in the case of the scammed eBay IDs, the person who got phished is the one who gets billed for the bogus auction!
eBay ---> http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Charley.gif
Anyway, it would be quite an accomplishment to pull togther classic car boards across the US and Canada and pull a "Flash Mob" email campaign to force eBay into doing something about the problem.
Of all the MILLIONS eBay makes, you'd think they could have a single IT person on scam patrol.
Not only would they dump the scam auctions, but they'd also return the user ID to its rightful owner.
For now I'm an "eBay Motors scam auction vigilante," and I do this only because these thieves are stealing thousands of dollars every day from people in OUR hobby.
FYI: In my latest scam bait, I told the idiot I was a 17-yr. old kid who had saved his afterschool $$ for 2 years in order to buy his 1st GTO.
Do you think that criminal cared that it was a kid?

I personally think Ebay is great. You should be more weary buying a car sight unseen(except pictures), let alone a car that's in another country! The scams are very annoying but they are a constant reminder to be careful when dealing with strangers. As far as Ebay goes, I'm glad they exist at all. If they had to check every auction for authenticity then there would be no cars listed due to all the red tape. It is unrealistic to expect Ebay to control these scammers.
Just my opinion. Am I alone?

Jason,
I think eBay is great too. I have sold and purchased several transactions with no problems at all. It's a great concept, set-up, and resource for millions of people.
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
But while you (and I, and everyone else here at sYc) recommend being wary of scam sellers, not everybody is as aware as we are.
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Take a 1st-time classic car buyer, or a kid trying to break into our hobby with his hard-earned savings; these are the people that will refuse to believe that the car is bogus-- because the auction looks so authentic and they don't want to accept the reality that the real "owner" is some filthy, unshaven sloth in Romania, who's poppin' folks for $3-7K at a time while he sits in an internet cafe chain smoking cheap raunchy Russian cigarettes and chuckling about how badly he beat his wife the night before.
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
So my philosphy is to beat them at their own game. I waste their time, I frustrate them, I insult them and I make them run around town, looking for their Western Union $$.
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif
Please be advised that these same scammers are now moving into "selling" plasma TVs, digital cams and cellular phones on eBay.
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif
I'm going to have to back away from baiting scammers for awhile. I really need to focus on my Milt Schornack/Royal Bobcat GTO biography. My agent got me a great publishing deal with McFarland & Co. Publishers of Jefferson, NC. The book is going to be a beautiful hardcover with color photos and glossy pages.
My deadline is New Years Eve! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

My company has a website that is for buisness only, it's not open to the public, yet i get people getting in and stealing info. At least thats what was happening in it's virgin stages. Now everything i have on the site is tagged. Maybe thats what e-bay sellers should do, tag their pictures so no one else can use them. At least it's a start.
