Alotta people are saying "The Curse is broken!"
But just because they beat the Yankees doesn't break the curse. They haven't won a World Series since 1918 and THAT will be the actual busting of the curse.
I'm not certain who i want to win the St.L /Houston game tonight, but a classic confrontation between the BoSox and the Rocket in the WS would be cool!

In any case, Bill Buckner no longer holds the title of the biggest choke performance of all time. That title now belongs to the 2004 NY Yankees! Ahead 3 games to 0 and in Yankee Stadium for games 6 & 7 and they still couldn't get it done!
Go Sox!!!!

All you Sox fans have to remember that the Curse is far from over. Just because your team made it to the World Series does not mean the Babe is rolling in his grave.
May the best team win. I am excited to see the results. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif Yes, I am huge Yankee fan.

No im not from new england. born and raised in phila,pa. just love to watch the underdog win. And i do think the curse is broken if there ever was such a thing. The fact that they could come back and win 4 straight [2 at yankee stadium yet] from a more talented team is just such a great story. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif now if only the phillies would play with that much heart!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Dan,
While I can certainly understand your appreciation for the talent and history of the Yanks, sometimes you have to yield and let others have some fun too.
Nobody is a better example of a 100% pure pro ballplayer than Derek Jeter, and not even Ralph Lauren himself could ever design a better-looking pinstriped suit. The Yankees ARE babeball.
But let us have our fun. You will live to see many more World Series games with the Bronx Bombers- we will be lucky just to see a few more.
There is no such thing as "The Curse" -- it is all in good fun and part of baseball lore.
You have to understand how exciting it is for ANY team and their fans to beat the Yankees. (Minor case in point: how will NY fans feel on Sunday if the Jets beat the 20-straight-game-winning, Super Bowl Champion N.E. Patriots?) http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Of course I hope "the curse is broken." The Curse has always been more about the nemesis that is the NY Yankees - moreso than any World Series victory.
But I agree that the "actual" definition of "The Curse" is the 1918-??? run of no championships for Boston.
Wish us luck.
Steinbrenner will spend another $185,000,000 next year and you'll be right back in step again!

Mac -- In no way shape or form am I trying to take away from your Bo Sox right now. They simply out played the Yankees -- The Yankees did not deserve to win. I still cannot believe that Johnny Damond was 3/29 in ALCS and walked off with a grand slam and a two run shot -- its mind boggling!
However, I think it is very to be a Yankee fan. The team has surreal funding, a history of outstanding players, and a coaching/management staff has the master the science of winning -- hence the 26 world championships. But on the other hand, it is also very easy to hate the Yankees. But this losing series has also proved that the Yankees are not unbeatable. The Bo Sox did rock the Yankees in the regular season, and most likely will continue to do so well into the future.
I am sorry if I stole your light. No harm intended. I guess we can pick up on the sports talk Sunday night. Go Jets! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif... If I make all the money in my life that Mr. Steinbrenner spends in a year -- I think I will have it made http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Sorry everybody. Kicking the Yankee Team's butts out off the field was THE WIN for the Sox. Yes, they've won the Pennant before, but not against the Yankees like this. The World Series will be sweet but a bit of a let down after this series. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!

If the Sox lose the WS it will hurt, but the sweet taste of victory will linger far into the 2005 season due to the way the Sox came back and won the pennant.

Now we have another GREAT day ahead: The N.E. Patriots (5-0) go up against the N.Y. Jets (5-0) in Foxboro! Then the Sox (1-0) take on the Cards again tonight with Schilling on the mound.
I'm gonna need a 2nd stomach for all the food and drink today!

If there was ever really a "curse" - it is now killed.
My dad lived his whole life (1930-2001) watching the BOSTON RED SOX and never got to see this. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
But it finally happened.... on a week where the undefeated Jets went down at the hands of the undefeated New England Patriots
The "CURSE" is dead. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
