Definitely depends on who you talk to...
The car I would be willing to pay anything for if it ever came up for sale would be the 1 of a kind GM Manta Ray that they still take out on the show circuit. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif
I'd be willing to cash out my 401K if I had to http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Cool Car, do you have anymore specs or pictures of it?

Thats not a musclecar !! It's a 1 off concept car isn't it ? I would have to say the Hemi Cuda convertible,70 LS 6 convert to start with..RAIV 70 Judge convert...converts seem to be the most valuable and rarest production cars right now .

Like I said, it depends on who you ask... to me the Corvette is the ultimate muscle car or super car.
[ QUOTE ]
Q: What makes a muscle car?
A: It comes down to the power-to-weight ratio. If you have a big engine or a lot of horsepower in a small or medium-size car, that is a muscle car.

Some people want to say that it depends on the original price of the car was as well... to me that is just goofy. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

69 Firebird Trans Am convertible. Only 8 made. Also a "real" 69 ZL1 Corvette.

Yes, I have a "lot" more pictures... I'll post a link separately (some day). One important spec is that it was powered by a ZL1.
Don't forget the 1968 Z-28 Convertible Camaro.Definitely 1 of 1.
Personally I would like to own one of the surviving 18 1970 L89 Chevelles..& make it a convertible please. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It seems that it would be tough to pick our choices for a top 5 or even a top 10 out of GM, but what about ford. the 427 side oiler cobras come to mind, or the GT-40's, the one and only shelby super snake, the thunderbolt, 429 boss mustang, than we could make a top 10 list of the alltime best muscle cars of the combined lists..........makes your head spin. Sure gets your heart racing just thinking about it though. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

What's up with that list and it having 3 ZL-1 Corvettes listed? There's only 2 right?
mike s
11-18-2004, 11:48 PM
there might be 3 ZL1 CORVETTE'S i spoke with a guy a few weeks ago that claims he owned a red 1 abd i heard a collector in florida had a yellow 1 and kevin has a white 1 ,but there are 3 4spd 71 hemi cuda convertibles ,so that list is not totally correct

Plus, since that list has the Corvette on it, it goes against their silly definition of what a muscle car is...
Very Limited Definition of Muscle Car (http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/general/musclecars-definition.shtml)
See my post above for my opinion.

Vehicle: Chevrolet Camaro
Muscle Car? Yes
Classification: Pony car
Notes: Only SS and Z28 models are considered muscle cars

I thought only 3 1969 ZL-1 corvettes were produced.One was destroyed.Kevin S. has the white one.
Here is the other one in Yellow in Florida.

Kind of interesting that they get all excited about 179 Hemi 426 convertibles being built and making them the rarest as a group. Tough to dispute one of one or one of two type cars, but the aggregate statistics seem wierd.
How does that stack up to the 20-something LS-6 convertibles ever built or the 71 (or is it 72?) ZL-1 cars ever built?
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
I also know a few people that might beg to differ that a W-31 Cutlass isn't a muscle car!?!

Last I heard, Ed Meyers was assembling the remains of Dyno Don's car. He found a body with no floors, and then tracked down much of the original underbody/unibody structure behind the shop that did the work. Or maybe he found the Boss 429 shock towers with Cougar bits and then found the rest, I can't remember now. I used to have a link to a great article, but it was lost in the crash of my old computer. Eddie Schartman's car is still MIA, as far as I know....
I Vaguely remember that Great Story!
It was written up in one of the MuscleCar mags within the last 6 years I think?.I have it here somewhere.
He found the shock towers at a swapmeet. The number on them was what was the key,all who inspected them figured they were from an obviuous generic Cougar, but this guy new something wasn't right. He bought them & hit the books. He spent countless hours researching & documenting it's past.He traced the towers all the way back to it's original heritage. One of the rare Boss 429 Cougars.Once he had evidence,he went back to the seller, who pointed him to the shop they came from. There he found a few more body parts, floors fenders etc.
It was all that was left of the Boss 429 Cougar,as the car was previously cut up,but the magazine article called it one of the greatest Detective Car ventures ever,as so many had overlooked these parts in the past. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Look near the beginning of this thread to see my message of what a muscle car is. Like I said, I consider the Corvette the ultimate muscle car. I think that definition over on musclecar.com (or whatever) to be just outright goofy http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I saw the Muscle Car Review article on the Boss Nine Cougar, but somewhere online I had found a link to a longer, more in-depth article. I can't remember where it was, but I do recall it was off the beaten path on some obscure personal website.

This is one of the Boss 429 Cougars

Fast Eddie Schartman campaigned this one-of-two ´69 Boss 429 Eliminator Cougar in NHRA competition. That’s a ´70 front end--a facelift for the ´70 season. This isn’t one of our Top 10, but it’s a piece of Cougar racing history few are even aware of. Ford performance-car collector Ed Meyers has found one of the Boss 429 Cougars, although its condition will require a massive restoration.

There was a spread on one in MCR some years back... a white on black one, open headers... There is decal or a plate stating that the car is NOT for public road use... AWESOME CAR!

Yes, you're right! A white 1968 "Hemi" Dart appeared on the September 2001 cover of Muscle Car Review. The car was owned by a gentleman by the name of Joe Saunders. He's a car collector from Florida. During the photo shoot, the oil pan had gotten damaged going over a speed bump! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

I found the thread on boss302.com that had the link to the great article, but that article is no longer archived at the site. There's some neat info in the thread, however, so I'll include it here.
