I had been looking for a 69 SS for a while. A friend of mine told Al Maynard that I was looking for one. Al was going to Carlisle. He said he would check there for me. Al met up with a friend of his, Marco DeCesaris. Marco said he had one he was thinking about selling. He sent me some picture of it. I liked what I saw, so I had Jerry MacNeish go look at the car. MacNeish did an authentication of the car. All numbers matching except the carb , master cylinder, and the water pump. I have since located and bought the correct parts.
The original owner, who I have spoken to many times, worked at the Dealership. He ordered the car.

It has a dealer installed Hurst shifter and passenger side mirror. Dealer also added the lower molding.
When it arrived at the Dealership it was rustproofed with a paint like coating. As I have been removing the rustproofing, I have found the factory paint dabs. Most of them are in good shape. The original paint and stickers were on the front shocks.
I cleaned up and painted some things in the engine compartment. If it had not been rustproofed, I would have left it alone. Everything had been sprayed.
I have the factory wheels for it. The original spare is in the trunk. Never been on the ground.
It was painted in 1999. All original sheet metal, glass, trim.
The tilt wheel, speed minder, and gauge package were added by the third owner.
Car spent most of its life in North Carolina.

Love those 69s...A red SS side stripe would look really good on it, not that it doesn't already look really good... What dealership did it come out of?

I picked the car up this morning from the body shop. It no longer has the rocker trim and the factory wheels are back on it. It looks a lot different now.
The selling dealer was Nelville Chev. in Medan NC. I have not been able to find any info on them. Roger Ausley owned this car at one time. I have a pretty complete owner history on it. The car was well taken care of by all previos owners.

Quick question,,did 69 Chevelle's have a stripe option down the hood and trunk like the 70 models did? Just curious!

Nice Car Tony, my favorite body style, I want one just like it with the red side stripe.

DSYenko...No stripes on hood and trunk from the factory. I understand there were some dealers that would put the stripes on at the customers request though.

Im starting on a 69 L78 Chevelle next week, maroon with black top and was told the car had the black stripe, would/could this be correct? The cars in primer now so I have no idea at this point on the stripe option other than the person I bought it from! Thanks

DSY...If you would like some other opinions, try www.chevelles.com (http://www.chevelles.com) I have seen this question a few times on the board. Do a search on the site. Lots of good info there.

Try the dealership listed in Maiden NC. I live in Charlotte and have never heard of a town spelled they way you had posted earlier, but I certainly don't know of all the towns in NC.

Fantastic car.

Mark...It can be setting in your driveway in a few days! I had a set of Cragars on it for a day or so, then I put the stock wheels with BFGs on it. It did look great with the Cragars.

I don't really want to sell it, but I had to store one of my cars in cold storage last winter. I really like to keep them in the climate controlled shop. The 72 Camaro was the unlucky one that had to get cold. 5 cars is to many for the space I have.
I had it listed here and on the Team Chevelle site a year ago. After the first dozen or so guys that called and tried to murder me on the price, I got disgusted and told everyone after that it was no longer for sale. I'm not broke, I didn't lose my life savings in the crash, my wife will let me have as many cars as I want, it's not my retirement fund, my kids don't need to be put through college, blah, blah, blah..You should have heard what guys were saying to me when they were trying to steal it. After typing this out, I think you are right. I'll keep it.
