Looks like the Motion butternut car that was in Street Power in '77-'78.

I looked at the mag last night. I don't think these are the same cars. The Motion '67 was also Butternut yellow, black vinyl roof and a SS/RS. However the Motion car had 4-5 holes drilled in the dash for accessory switches (which this car does not have). The motion car had a black pinstripe along the side which this car does not have.
The car also did not have the Motion decal on the firewall.
The Motion drag car had a line loc bolted to the front fenderwell and in the pics of the car on ebay there is no holes in the same exact spot. It is not the same car.

The Motion car was the drag car in the early Motion pics and ended up in Conn. The car in the mags was featured in '76-'77 and was at some iSCA car shows where it won awards.

While I agree that its very unlikely this car has any Motion ties, it WOULD be a pretty neat looking SS car when restored correctly... although you would definitely need to throw some serious cash at it to get it there.

Ive seen car in person, there ARE pinstripes and other things. I did not look for the holes in dash, for seller asked me to leave after i tried to buy it out of auction, so my time was limited. Like i put in a prior post that I deleted for i did not want 3XXXXX pms. "It must have been connected to motion a one point in time due to a few things that were not mentioned in auction and made me want to buy it" and am still trying like he had mentioned in the trunk were other parts with car and i seen that there where 2 rear quarter glassed that had painted on lettering that stated.... E/E M and other said F/ M.. what would this mean?...ALSO ss hood on car was originally gold not yellow. WHY would some one change from an ss hood to ss hood?? being car obviously has original paint and not ever wrecked this is probily not the DRAG CAR in question but whos to say its not a motion or a street racer??.. he converted small block to big block cars from simple engine swaps to phase III cars all for the money.. And also does any one have a vin number for the car in question??? In last words who knows whats what other than Uncle Joel.... good luck and any other info will help.. thanks again http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

I don't think the blue/yellow/red Motion decal was used in 67. Motion had other decals in 67

But http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif the butternut motion ss/rs car was (traded in) and resold in 1972 and went east. As states some sources and that the blue and yellow decal would be correct, right?? And does anyone know what the (perm. painted) writing on quarter windows mean?? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

COPOL89
12-02-2004, 03:59 AM
Because some one on this site offered him 40-50k through an email to end auction early. I offered him less and he informed me of the other offer.. but we have been talkin. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Without verification from Joel and/or other legit docs, it would be a hell of a big gamble to pay much for that car. Motion sold LOTS and LOTS of parts and decals through their catalog and extensive advertising in all of the East Coast magazines. You could buy a bunch of lottery tickets for $40K and would probably have better odds of coming out ahead. Nonetheless, it's worth investigating, but you need to ask yourself why has the owner not already done it??

COPOL89

where else can you find an original untouched 67 ss rs 396 4 speed car with the original paint with some motion ties maybe even features for the company and the kid that I met to see the car for his father was less than 25 years old. do you think he knows what a motion car is worth? or even what it is???. motion to him is a vw...as in 4 motion all wheel drive..hehehe his father also obviously does not know either for he would not let his adolescant son sell his prized posessions.. And if it would turn out to be the car in question it would have a better pay off than any lottery http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

HEY! Since when is a 25 year old an "adolescant"? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I know a few 25 year olds that have taken some older folks to school on some of this stuff in the past, so just because someone's younger doesn't always mean they don't know their stuff. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
It would be cool if it turned out to be legit...with zero paperwork it would be a big gamble for that kinda coin though...good luck to you...I bet alot of people are going to be looking a little closer into this car now if nothing else...

By rolling the dice do you mean paying up to Joel or buying the car? It seems like paying Joel is the smart choice since you will have to do it eventually anyway.

I am told the car was sold new by a NY dealer near Rochester about 350 miles from Long Island. That would pretty much rule out a Baldwin connection. Doesn't sound like a particularly good gamble to me at this point, but it's your money.

It is always interesting to watch ebay auctions. Specially when you look at what they have sold and bid on. What a small world it is. The seller and the high bidder at the end of the auction must shop at the same store. They have sold items where pictures were taken in front of the same washer, dryer, and door.

Here is an auction by the high bidder Z282 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4500782910&category=34 207)
and here is an auction by the seller of the Camaro monteman83 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7938056427&catego ry=33716&sspagename=WDVW)

Also I think if you check the bid history on Z282's item you will find it very interesting (specially the second bidder on the item).

When the auction ended, or was ended, the bid history was zeroed out and the selling price was changed to something like $100. That happens a lot on eBay car auctions.

The high bidder on the car was Z282. If you look at the bids on the car by clicking on the 0 bid you will see his ID and the bid amount. Then check the links to the auctions I posted and see what you think. One in the same?

Somethings fishy here...Heres my take on the whole thing...Z282 is the father and Montman is the son. He is trying to up the bidding on Dad's Taillights. It also appears that the father was upping the bidding on the Camaro also..or are they the same person with two different account names...Hmmm .Major Ebay No-No. Should we report em...lol

Does that mean it is just better to make something up like calling it a Motion to make more money ? Did your Dad teach you that ? NOTHING WAS MADE UP CAR HAD THE MOTION ITEMS IN CAR AND A MOTION DECAL THAT LOOKS AS IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND HEAVY WELDED REAR END. WHAT ABOUT THE MOTION CARS SUCH AS THAT HAD BEEN ORIGINALLY SS 350 CARS CONVERTED "AS IN HI PERFORMANCE CARS ISSUE WITH THE BLUE SS 350 CAR WITH 427 ALUM HEAD SWAP AND 4 WHEEL DRUM BRAKES http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. WHERE ARE THESE CARS http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif, HOW WOULD THAT CAR BE SOLD BY YOU? SS 350 OR MOTION CAR EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AN SS 350 WITH ITS SMALL BLOCK HEATER BOX
MY DAD TAUGHT ME TO LET THE CAR SPEAK FOR IT SELF, WHICH THIS ONE AND THE MANY OTHER DO TO.. AND I AM NOT AS SHARP AS YOU OLD GUYS BUT AM LEARNING TO BE JUST AS DECIEVING AND BACK STABBING AS YOU... JOEL WAS A PERFORMANCE SALESMEN WHO DID A GREAT JOB SELLING PARTS BUT EVERY BUYER AND CAMARO OWNER COULD NOT SPAT OUT THE CASH FOR A PHASE III CONVERSTION BUT COULD KEEP COMMING BACK FOR THE NEWEST AND FASTED SPEED EQUITMENT. THIS CAR AS STATED BY COPO THIS BUTTERNUT SS RS 396 CAMARO CAME FROM ROCHESTER NY 350 MILES AWAY.. I KNOW THAT IF I DROVE 60 MPH AND WENT 350 MILES IT WOULD ONLY TAKE ABOUT 4-5 HOURS AND AT SAY LESS THAN 30 CENTS A GALLON THAT WOULD NOT BE A WASTED TRIP TO MOTION PERFORMANCE WHERE JOELS PARTS COULD BE BOUGHT..

No I just looked at your profile....COPOl89 has the same last name as you and actually was not critical of your car at all...maybe it's just a coincidence. Like I said moe...just let it die now...I don't need to investigate anything...you stepped in your own little pile of crap...now go away and clean your shoes.

How about 676767? Maybe SS427COPO? BTW, there is a little box you can check that does a spell check. As for the grammar, what can anybody think? Maybe a crash course in communications. Please take the advice of the administrators, or find yourself "disappeared" off the site.

There is more than enough evidence here to have the FBI take him from his house in cuffs. A local car dealer just got busted for doing the same thing, jacking prices on his ebay cars. Roger

it gets better..I uncovered this last night but wanted to check with the board before posting...take a look at both links..look closely at the house, gravel road and the bushes on the gravel road..looks the same to me...

Roger said it best...wonder what the cars would bring at a real auction by the government...

So he is al COPOL89, the same guy he was complaining about causing all that grief... He is right. He does manage to cause himself grief. I bet his Dad would be right proud of him. The L89 convert might be neat but the pranks this punk is up to detracts from any legitimacy the car might have.

Ed,

What can be said. Maybe MonteCarloMan can load up a U Haul trailer and take his wonderful collection to Barrett Jackson, and sell it for millions of dollars. Sell it all at once...that way he can find another career while he's still young(like going back and getting an education). Or maybe he can retire...for everyone's sake. What else can be said?

Well, there's always that slight chance that someone will get panicky (it is an auction, after all) and buy-off on that "vintage" Motion sticker and "possible" ties to Motion Performance and drop more money for the car than it's otherwise worth. It is true that some of the surviving supercars were found in similar surroundings but today it's more likely that such barn finds, etc., would sell through brokers and word-of-mouth to serious collectors and not put on eBay. I said "more likely" but anything is possible. This guy, however dishonest and ridiculous his attempt, stood a small chance of making money on this deal. Thanks to the Internet and a few minutes of quick research, we can all jump all over this crap within minutes and foil these frauds.

well the real sad part is it looks like his Dad had stashed some stuff over the years and had some cool cars along the way and Monteman or who ever has been selling a ton of it on e bay...the good is we get access to some parts that were stashed the bad is this jacka$$ was playing with the auctions...I would bet the buyers of his items would like to read this thread.

It's nice to see that opinions on this site arn't biased towards the masses here and that negitive comments are allowed so as we can make up our own minds. Banter of any kind is allowed, thank you to all the administrators, it makes for an interesting read. It's funny how when these guys are tagged they will defend themselves to the end even though they are caught with no way out.

Good Work
