I have attended the B-J Auction since 1981, I am sure many of you are there as well. Would be great to meet some fellow enthusiasts, who is going?

I am seriously thinking about going to Scottsdale this year. Just have to find a hotel that is somewhat close to the auction site. Any suggestions?

Courtyard by Marriott on Scottsdale road is reasonable and close.
I too am also considering going to Scottsdale this year. It has been on my list to do for years and I have yet to make it out there. What are the best days to go? I doubt I will buy anything, but who knows.

Thursday Thru Sunday are great days..... There are three different Marriots at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Frank LLoyd Wright Blvd. They are fairly new and close to Russo-Steele and Barrett-Jackson. I think Residence Inn, Springhill Suites and I forget the other. Rooms get expensive and scarce so don't waste time.

I will give it a try to be there myself. Look for me somewhere near the gold & black Baldwin Motion Phase III GT vette that George has in the auction.
Perhaps we all need to wear a sYc or Yenko.net name tag? That way we will reconize each other easier? Of course I will have a Motion decal on too.

ROB do you have a thought on that Idea?

A few of us from Chicago area will be getting there on Wendsday and staying until Sunday. It really is a good time. If you go dont forget to go to the car show they have at the McDonalds It is huge.
I am amazed at those I know with cars for sale, making the trek to Scottsdale in January.
All seem to have dollar signs in thier eyes,& rightly so,I guess.
It's going to resemble the Woodstock of Car Auctions!

There are other hotels south from the auction right off the 101. They are not that much further from the hotels off N.scottsdale road and maybe less expensive. Also I suggest spending the 300.00 bucks and getting a bidders' pass. Not only do you have the option of bidding, but you get close-up parking access and admission for yourself and a guest. Admission this year is 50.00 a day per person so this seems to make sense. BTW, last Pavillions' car show I attended had original '71 hemi cuda coupe and convertible and '69 COPO Chevelle (Micky Hale restored) and perfect blue LS6 etc. so it's worth checking out. The only thing that sucks about it is the obnoxious music.

Like COPO, I have wanted to go for several years. I will be there Thursday-Sunday and plan to get my money's worth. You can sleep when you are dead! Probably can't afford anything there but just look forward to the experiance. Tell me more about were and when on the McDonald's thing. I suspect that just like spectacles everywhere there is as much going on in the surrounding area as at the show. Anyone else have other suggestions on activities us newbies might not know about? Maybe a planned get together(lunch, dinner, beer) is a good idea,I am certainly game.

Bill, Scottsdale is awesome. Lots of great golf, dining and shopping. Don and Charlies restaurant is a must ( I'm serious) - 7501 E. Camelback Rd. 480-990-0900. Old town Scottsdale is fun, nice Mall at Fashion Square. Anyway if you need info, you can PM me, I've lived in AZ. for years and know Scottsdale pretty well. Good Luck, BJ is an exciting time in Scottsdale.

Bill,
The McDonalds car show Saturday night is in the Pavillions Shopping Center at Indian Bend Rd. & the Pima freeway (Loop 101). It is about 5 miles straight south of the auction site. Best time to be there is about 5 to 9 pm.

I'll be there in the midway selling the new Auto-Spin.com turntable. Look for my blue 69Z spinning around (in case the Auto-Spin signs and the blimp flying above aren't a tip-off). Stop by and take a load off - I'll have an extra chair or two.
BJ has been sold out since about October. This even with the extra day added. I've sold stuff (firetrucks with calliope, popcorn wagon, etc.) through the auction other years and didn't enter until November. No auction car for me this year.
The buying frenzy amazes me every year. Where else can you buy that special car that you can't drive, probably can't verify history on, won't hear run until the last minute and is truly part of a sellers market?? No question there are some great, real cars. And some that just LOOK that way!
I may have room for another car coming back to Iowa (enclosed trailer)just in case you find that super buy.

Rick: Thanks for taking care of my signs!
Barrett-Jackson
Due to recent new purchase syndrome, if you don't see my blue 69Z on the Auto-Spin, try a Big Bad Green AMX. I might change my mind again, though, so anything on a turntable is probably me. The chairs will be available to sYc members!
