I am looking for another Z/28 to restore over the next couple years. I would like to find a Tuxedo Black, Butternut Yellow, or Daytona Yellow car, but would consider other colors as well. Can be project, partial restored or completely restored. Prefer matching numbers but would consider any and all 69 Z/28 cars. Please email me if you know of one that is or may become available. Any options base considered. You can email me via [email protected]

Thanks....Graeme http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

I found a new car locally and have made a deal on a 68 RS Z/28 loaded with options. I would still be interested in a 69 Butternut Yellow coded Z/28 if anyone knows of one or comes across one.

Thanks....

Hope it's a real one. Did you get GM to run the VIN if it's a Canadian car?

Not to worry, I have owned many documented cars over the years and yes this one also has GM Canada documents. Not only that, but it also the original Protect-o-Plate. It be the real deal!

Cheers!

I have never seen one other than this picture that someone posted on Team Camaro a year ago. I love that color on a 69 Z/28 and the more I look at it, the more I like it. I checked the stats and it appears they made 126 of these with this color or .08% of 20,302 cars produced.

Here are some pictures of the car I was talking about. I bought it today after a close inspection and it truly is a beautiful car inside and out. Price was a bit fat but no regrets at all as the car can't be built for anywhere close to what was paid for it. It has quite a bit of paper work with the car including the original manual, warranty paper, and a ton of receipts. It received an intensive body on resto performed back in 1984 through 86. All GM parts throughout and over 50K spent on the restoration back in the 80's. That was truly tons back then. It does not have a protect-o-plate as was originally thought, but that does not worry me after viewing the car and its parts list. The car has total eye appeal and it's as fresh looking now as it was when restored 20 years ago. Guy I bought it from is a local collector and a really great guy. He has owned it for 14 years now. A really good friend of mine rebuilt the entire drive line and knows the car and its owners dating back 24 years. I will also be calling the owner who restored the car to see if he has the POP plate. It's not certain that it is a Canadian car or not, but I will run the VIN with GM in case it is. If the documents work out when checked, that will be a bonus. In either case, I bought the car regardless of paper strictly due to how nice this car is. It's definitely a keeper and I hope to have it for its next 36 years.

This will end up being my driver car as I restore another 69 car during the next couple years. I may then rotisserize this car and do the underside which by the way is in mint original condition with all metal intact. More information regarding this recent purchase is posted on my web site at http://www.x33d80.com/home.htm

That is going to be your daily driver! Studded tires or chains won't look good!!!!!Better hire Hulk Hogan to stand guard when you go to WalMart. Oh by the way, very nice car, what color is that?

Hello Stuart.

The color is Grotto Blue which is the correct 68 color for this car and is marked as DD on the trim tag. I mentioned this will be my driver car, but that does not mean daily driver. It simply refers to the car being my main muscle car and it will only be driven to show and shines, or car related events. Other than that, it will stay covered up indoors. I have a couple daily driver cars already.

Well here is the latest on this 68 car. It is a documented Canadian car and was originally sold in Calgary through GSL Chev Olds. I called the VIN into George Zapora at GM Canada today and got them to fax me a copy of the original build sheet. It is a true RS car and the Z/28 option was not on the sheet. That confirms that the option was added to the car at a later date in time. It is however important to note, that whoever added the Z/28 package to this car performed a beautiful addition of the option. It has the correct intake, carb / cleaner, heads, covers, pulleys, brackets, bell housing, and the rest of the correct parts for a Z/28.

Obviously no expense was spared when this work was performed as the sale is accompanied by a stack of receipts totalling over 25K in parts alone. Much of the parts listing were supplied by GSL Chev Olds where GM parts were used throughout. (Imagine the costs to buy these parts as NOS today) That did not include any associated costs for the mechancial work, or the bodywork and paint. The car did receive NOS GM Quarters along with NOS fenders when restored and also got a GM cowl hood. The fact that the Z/28 option package was added does not change the status of this purchase nor does it change my opinion of the cars high level of restoration. It is truly a beautiful car throughout and now I can drive it without Hulk Hogan guarding over it at Walmart! (lol)

Cheers....

So what your saying is that the fact that it is a clone did not impact your decision to purchase.

I'm Curious as to why you wouldn't run the VIN# through George Z. BEFORE you paid for the car?
Living in Canada,I would think this is second nature. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just finally read this and looked at the pics. Was this car for sale on a different web site a little while back? If not the same car, this cars twin is out there. Car Im talking about was labeled as a Z/28 clone in the 4-sale ad.

Nice looking car just the same but then its a 68 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Steve / Rick,

Here is what can be said of the car and the decision to purchase it. I have been after this car for a while as have others here in the Calgary area. When I sold my car a couple weeks ago, I then made a very decent offer to the owner of this car who said he think about it. On the 7th of December, the owner called me to say he'd sell for what I had offered and gave me first right of refusal. I then went to inspect the car this past Saturday (my earliest convenience) and found the car to be gorgeous throughout. So much so, that I couldn't fault much of it at all. It was however quite apparent that it was not a correct car nor numbers matching. It did look to be very well built and it was obvious that it was an original RS car with GM metal throughout. The owner did not have a build sheet for the car nor a protect-o-plate, and bought it the way it was.

I then looked the car over again and knew that I just had to have this car as my driver as the quality of the work performed was outstanding. At that point it really didn't matter what the search would prove, as it already appeared to be cloned in some regard. With other parties interested in the car and pursuing it as much as I had, I was not about to walk away and let someone else own it perhaps the very next day. Obviously at this point, the decision was made to buy the car regardless of paper, and I knew I wanted it more than anyone else. I then wrote a substantial deposit to complete the offer and made arrangments for final payment. I did plan to run the VIN through GM in case I had missed something in the build and as it turned out, I was correct in my review as it was an original RS with the Z/28 options added.

With a secured deposit in place and no other surprises pending, my decision to follow through with the purchase was solidified. I have since been in contact with the seller to arrange the rest of the funds and thats pretty much a wrap. There's not much more I can tell you so see it as you may. I suppose I was a bit premature in saying anything about this car before looking at it, and I suppose thats my human nature and over enthusiasm getting the best of me. Fault me as that is, the fact remains that the car is gorgeous throughout and I'm cool with the result.

Jeff,

The car has only been out of the current owners hands once since 1988 as he did sell it to an NHL player who owned the car for 2 years and then sold it back to him. I don't think it was offered or available for sale during that time and know that this person only put 600 miles on it. Chance are there is a sibling to this out there, but I doubt it has the same options loaded.

Cheers! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Just curious if the seller was selling it as a Z/28. That's a no no and can lead into civil court.

The car was sold to Clark Wilm who was with the Flames for a short while and when transfered to Atlanta, he sold it back to the person I bought it from. As far as Mark's question goes, "no" this car was not misrepresented in any way. It was simply sold as a nice driver car without paper or no false claims were made.

Don't get me started on Hockey. Thats a sour note with me as I am a huge fan and it's a crappy deal that they may not play this year, or perhaps next year if an impass is reached. That in itself will create a whole new NHL and many players will be gone by the time it's settled. And oh yea, about that picture....wasn't he golfing while the flames moving onto the Sharks last spring? (lmao)

I remember Chelios and Iginla going at it right in front of me a few years ago. We have season tickets right to the side of the net and they scrapped about 3' away from me. Both got some good face shots in and the fight was a draw, but Iggy came out after the penalty elapsed and scored right away. Guess who skated out of the other box and was trying to catch him as he was skating up ice. Yup....Chely!

Always love the Wings and Flames games.
