I don't read or post on the rabbit's forum, but a couple of my buddies forwarded me a thread from that site that I find interesting, if not amusing. It's become personal now, so after this public defense of my integrity, I'll keep my remarks off line so as not to disturb the mood and agenda on either of the forum sites involved.

Well I will be, the head detective speaks!!! Hey SS, I would not have to get a new login on your piddly little site if your small minded and paranoid moderators hadn't wanted to hear any dissenting opinions and banned me!! Yeah I am talkin about 454 something or other. Why did he ban me? Was it who I associate with, or could it be that I outed a couple of his buddys obviously faked cars? Or could it be something else? Well only the shadow knows. If any of you people had the chutzpah to hear a dissenting opinion, instead of all those magpies singing, you would not have to ban so many people, and maybe the site would not be losing credibility as it is.
By the way SS, tell the world about your new Dick Harrell car. The Super Chevy magazine says you have a new one. Or could someone be not telling the whole truth on this either?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When, in the span of 4-5 hours one day last week, you use an assumed name to post on the sYc and email me at my personal email address, I naturally become curious about your motives. It was clear to me that your sYc forum post was meant to stir a pot that's already bubbling and the condescending email you sent me only confirmed your malicious intent to cast a calumnious aspersions about my car. Do you know anyone that displays their cars out in the sunshine more than I do? Do you know anyone that has ever witnessed, or even thinks I'm capable of misrepresenting any car in my collection at a show or in a magazine? In the case of the magazine article you refer to, I had 6 cars at the SuperCar Reunion last September...do you think there's any chance the writer inadvertently posted the wrong description under the picture of my RG COPO Camaro? Do you really think that meets the minimum to suggest that I personally misrepresented anything about that car? Stop it, Bill...you're making yourself look silly! As for your comments about fake cars, I think most people would concede that you have quite an imagination, so your opinion about any car's legitimacy probably deserves some skepticism. The sYc forum site has nearly 2,400 members and I only recall 6-7 site users being banned in the last 3 years. If you're on that list, then mathematically you represent less than one half of one percent of the membership. You apparently frequent the sYc forum site, so does that put in question your credibility? What color is the sky on your planet, Bill?
SS
PS: I have a friendly relationship with a few of the folks that frequent and post on the rabbit forum board, so I hope all this nonsense doesn't create more acrimony than already exists. -SS
Steve, Any Show would welcome your collectin of Cars and we all know that. What really caught me off guard with that post is I guess he didnt check with Dave Libby who was at SCR7 to see how the car was displayed. I would bet that Dave never said your R/G COPO was displayed as a Harrell Car because IT WAS NOT!!! Does he really think that you would try to pass a COPO car off as a Harrell car esp with Mr Libby there!!!!
Some things in life never change, including mis-information in magazines. But, in defense of Bob McClurg, who I know does his best to get things right, and feels bad when an error occurs, he was under a lot of pressure the weekend of SCR7. He was surronded by over 75 very special cars, each with its own unique story, and only had two days to photograph them and gather info. This would be tough for anyone, but especially tough for Bob, as he was not aquanited with any of the owners.
Bob has told me that he is looking forward to shooting even more features at SCR8, and feels things will go a lot more smoothly, since he is now part of the sYc family.
Don't sweat it Steve. Those guys are a bunch of losers. I would say that 99.9% of them DON"T own supercars and a good percentage of them don't even own any car at all. Not that there is anything wrong with that because I have been there, but to bash the guys that do have them?? Why are they so jealous? Seriously? It is truly mind boggling. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
The funny thing is that there "leader" tried to go off on his own and FAILED MISERABLY!!! Now he claims that he is not even interested in supercars anymore! Could that be because you have alienated a $hit load of people that own them and they do not want to have anything to do with you anymore? The rest of them, ones that were banned, exiled, lost souls, who knows. Most of these guys are wrapped up in bad deals, fake cars, inner fighting, money, money, money, and have no true love for the hobby.
The sad part is that most people reading this have no idea what we are talking about and probably don't even care. I don't blame them. The bottom line is that the Yenko Sportscar Club is truly a great bunch of people. I bet a huge number of active members/posters can read this and honestly say that they have learned more than they ever have about these cars, obtained the car of there dreams, and met the best bunch of people they ever have in this hobby right here. I know I have and I bet those guys over there have through this site as well. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
Steve,
You're one of the nicest people that I've had the pleasure of emailing and PMing...Frank, you too! One day I'd actually like to meet both of you. As I've said in a few emails to you, I think that it's great that you display all of your cars for everyone to see, and that you share so much information and knowledge with everyone. That means that you are a CREDIT to the musclecar world. Not many collectors buy a huge rog at a cost of a lot of $$$, just so that they can display their cars all over the US...for all of us to enjoy. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
I really must have missed something while I was away from the Musclecar hobby. When did people become so spiteful? What ever happened to people commenting on how nice a car someone has, rather than the ludicrous bashing that is going on between these two sites? I was directed to the post about Frank's car on the other site...and I just don't get it!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif His car is beautiful!
I've had the pleasure? of emailing and talking to a few of the people who are going off the deep end on the other site...what prompted all of this? They all seemed to be nice people.., probably still are. We all have to understand that emotions get the best of us sometimes, but HELLO...we're adults here...aren't we?
There is NO room in this totally cool http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif hobby of ours for malicious posts...which are generated just to piss people off. If these people on this other site have nothing GOOD to say about someone or their car, why waste the time to say it?
Finally, having a difference of opinion about someone or something is fine...just be civil about it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
I guess I'm the eternal optimist. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Steve and all involved...have a great day...I know that I will!
Very good post Bruce. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
The funny thing is that members of the sYc have been getting bashed and bashed and have taken the route of turning the other cheek. This was good at first but has gotten old. Now it is time to set the record straight. They can invent a whole forum of bashing about us and it made a little dent but when we make one single post the effects are like an atom bomb.
I'm gonna bet that a 69 COPO Camaro in "Metallic" green and a 70 Dick Harrell Camaro in "Metallic" green caused the confusion. No biggie, a just a typo. Anyone with a good set of glasses and a knowledge of Steve's collection should be able to figure that one out. Otherwise why would anyone feel it necessary to challenge the authenticity of his collection? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Steve, The person you are responding to is insignificant in our arena. It appears his sole purpose is to stir the sh!t. He never provides any sustantiated proof, just innuendos. I never met him nor has anyone else on this site. His only role is to perpetuates rumors and skepticism; even when hard facts and documentation is provided. The only thing super he owns is his imagination.
I would disregard any and all of his communications, and not give any press to his feeble attempts to discredit members of this board.
This is ludicrous. Steve, why would YOU EVER feel the need to defend your integrity; especially considering the 'attackers'! So typical in today's world that those with the least to say speak the loudest.
We have a section in our local paper called "Open Line". It's more commonly known in the area as the Idiot Vent. Callers can make their opinions known about any topic, and remain anonymous. I can't imagine why any reputable publication would solicit such tripe, but I may have just answered my own question. If I wanted to read this garbage I would subscribe to the rags sold at the check-out at WalMart. Through "Open Line" some of our local public figures are beat up on a regular basis by people too cowardly to step out of the shadows and make themselves known. It's easy to criticize when you can hide behind anonymity. I'm very close to one of the targeted individuals. I try constantly to convince them for every one of the small minded individuals who voice their insignificant little negative opinions, there are a number of quiet supporters who rarely step up and offer a pat on the back for a job well done. I, for one, am trying to learn to offer positive comments when possible, and remain silent the rest of the time; walk the talk if you will.
That said, let me repeat. Mr. Sandlin, you have no call to defend yourself. Those who know you, or know about you, will never question 'Integrity'! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif
Seems like Gary Volpicelli 776 HP 69 SS Camaro was good enough to make the Sept 05 Issue of Car Craft in their Crusin' USA article. Looked like a good time was had by all.
Nice going Gary.
Thank you very much! I just got back from vacation and finally found my copy of Musclecar Enthusiast with the feature inside. It's hard to imagine I've had this car for 18 years now. That's longer than this month's Playboy centerfold has been alive. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif Lord I'm old....
Great to see another SYC member get some print on his car. It is featured in the Oct edition of Chevy Rumble. I met and talked with Don and his better half at SCR8. Great people. I heard that Don's 67Z was a great addition to last years reunion. It even has the cowl plenum, and of course the SCW front plate. Congrats Don! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Don, congratulations on the article, your car is a great example of what these cars represent. Thanks for bringing it to SCR7, and the earlier ChevyVette Fest, so we could see it in person and read about it. I'm glad to see Brian and Joe were involved in its restoration, they did a great job.
Bill, you sure have the pulse on what's going on. The '54 is signed up for judging at Waco, I'll see it there. You should head here for Waco, really a great event. There will be no shortage of L88's this year, three are registered at this time.
------Geez, Tim! Ill bet I can guess two out of the three L88s,,,LOL! And you will only see the 54 in Waco if it doesnt sell at Danas sale in Oct. I think hes being fairly good on the pricing of the 54 with the gigundous amount of paperwork that goes with it. What a find!!!!........Bill S
I just got pictures of the 427/400 horse air car. Looks like J56, shoulder belts, power windows, side pipes, speed warning, tele, power steering, bold on aluminum wheels, head rest, and 17,485 miles. Also has lots of pin striping that I'm sure can be removed and a luggage rack. Very nice '67 Corvette.
Now if your wondering what the heck this Magazine is dont feel bad SO DID I. Its from Europe and Published out of Stockholm. Also included with the Camaro is the Gold Motion Vette that recently sold at one of the Barrett Jackson auctions. Now only if I could read the article. I would like to send a Mahalo out to COPO ANDERS for bringing me a copy when he attended SCR8.
