I sold a car recently to a guy for 76K, he flew on an commercial airplane, rented a car, drove 150 miles to my house with the CASH on him. I thought that was crazy!!

I have done it so MR70 doesnt have to make a trip to the bank to cash a $8 money order.

As for large sums of $$$ im sure someone out there can step up to the plate and say [ QUOTE ]
I WAS THERE

[/ QUOTE ] and the second statement should be HOW STUPID CAN I BE

Don't even think about it. There are so many bad things that could happen and that doesn't even include a dishonest person receiving it and claiming they didn't get it. Get certified or a cashier's check to show proof you sent the money.

I have done it up to I think 30 bucks...if you are sending to a person you dont know just make sure you put delivery conformation on it..so they dont swallow the dough and claim it did not show...

IF I were going to send cash in the mail, I would send it registered and/or certified mail. That way someone has to sign for it at every stop it makes.

The point is, there's absolutely no legitimate reason to send cash via mail. So, there's no need to ask the question. Anyone can cash a money order or cashier's check.

If it's a small amount and you don't care, and basically see it as charity and giving it away, go for it, take a chance. Otherwise, I'd have to go with the braindead thing. :-)

For relative small amounts U.S. Postal Money orders are the BEST. If someone either doesnt convey the merchandise or just cashes M.O. and keeps the funds......you go to a certain web site, fill out the info and then post master and federal district attorney from recipiants local goes after them......Worked for me.....Chuck S

Chuck is right...Postal Money orders are the safest way to send a check..cashiers checks are junk! they are not worth the paper they are printed on or the charge the bank nails ya for to make one up...they have to sit in your account for a long time before they clear..and they can be cancled the day after they are sent making them void once they get back to the bank that issued it...we can partially thank the scammers for wrecking this form of payment...why cant it be sent like overnight mail or registered where it is tracked the whole way???..and insure it for whats in the package..is there a federal law stopping us from sending cash around??????

Oh don't be paranoid, it's OK to send cash. Those nice Nigerian fellows I gave my bank account info to, said that they would be sending me $37,000,000 right to my home address but they needed my bank info to verify that I was honest enough to be trusted. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
