Agree with your comments about the quality Rick. Seems to me I've seen this car a few times for sale in the past several months, not sure. Wonder if it's gone around to a couple of dealers http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I followed that auction everyday! I wish that I was in the position to do a "frame-off" on my Super Sport. After the kids are established! And that's a long time off! There was a time when 1971 and 1972 Chevelle Super Sports were overlooked. Not any more...

I followed this car too and it has been on e-bay a few times. It was sold 5 minutes from here @ Horry Chevrolet.

I saw that Chevelle in May. Went too look at 1970 Gobi Beige Chevelle the guy had for sale. Car was nice, butt one the guys in the shop thought it was a 72. Not too car savvy I thought.

Spoke to saleswoman at dealership yesterday. The car has been sold to a fellow out of the Albany area for $50K (off ebay). Perhaps a new high water mark for a '71?

Well Sam, you could be right. Proves one of the theories prominant in recent years - Quality, Quality, Quality - for some people the year, HP rating, numbers, etc. don't matter to them. They just want a car that essentially "Turns Their Crank" and are willing to pay good dollars for it http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

You can't be sure if this was the straight skinny or not, but she seemed forthright to me. My question to her was: Could you tell me the ball park of what the car went for? She said w/o hesitation that the price was $50K.
Quality had to be driver here. I never got excited about '71s until I saw this beauty. If someone had told me that I wld be bowled over by a gold 71 'velle, I wld have not believed them. I am a fan of the LS5 motor as it has good punch, you gotta love the torque, and it is quite reliable.

I have to agree. That car is gorgeous. I never used to be a fan of that color...my 1st car was a '74 Camaro in Placer gold and I hated it at the time. It has really grown on me since.
Now, I'd like to find a 74 Z in the same color to replace it.
