Actually, as a joke, we put a couple pieces of coal in my 4 year old son's stocking with a little note saying he can redeem them next year for a toy if his "sassy" behavior improves. The funny thing was, he was more psyched about that coal than any of the toys Santa brought him. His sister has a rock collection with rocks from all around the country and now he's started his own rock collection with some real Pennsylvania coal.

This year was good. Fri this came in a package in the mail that contained what must be the first advertizing that Joel Rosen did for the BM Phase III vette's back in '69. The pic is of what I am postive is my '69 that I have owned for so many years. That made this a better Xmas for me.

The GF got me a Carhart hooded jacket because she was worried that I was cold working on my cars in the garage. What a sweetheart.

Had a friend that was all alone, come over for dinner Sat afternoon and sure hope that helped make his day a little better. Sure did ours.

Hope each of you had a wonderful and happy holiday.

how about a great after Christmas present....The wife and I are going to go look at a car I have been wanting since I was a kid. Had to wait until after Christmas to do this and its been killing me to wait. A few weeks before Christmas an acquaintance of ours was over visiting and overheard us talking about another friend's camaro he was restoring and how much I had always wanted a 69 rs/ss to fix up. He informed us that he had the perfect car for me. I forgot that this person has a collection of Camaro's most being 1st gens and a couple of assorted others. We have been trying to get together on the deal and as of yet I havent even gotten to go see the car but that is scheduled for this Wednesday. He runs a race team and our schedules just seem to run in different times/hours so I have been waiting until now to try to hook up with him. He had been out of state for several weeks doing the off season sponsership stuff that comes with running a race team. Anyway here is the scoop from him on the car and I will post if anyone is interested if it turns out to be everthing he says it is. Its a fathom green 69 RS/SS original 350 4speed car but engine and tranny has been robbed. No rust in floors or trunk but some minor rust in front fenders near wheel wells. Body solid other than the fender rust. All chrome trim on the car is fine and has all the original windows (but milky) in spots. Original rally wheels are still on the car as well. Interior is complete but showing its age. Has console with guage package as well. He also has a 68 standard camaro in same to better shape as well with engine and tranny missing on that one as well. He had picked them up several years ago (8 to be exact) to have a father/son project with his boy. Son has no interest in them and never did and they have just sat in one of his race garages since. I am going to take my camera on Wednesday and get a couple of pics while I am over there. Luckily he is a good friend and will work with me on purchasing them. I have wanted a 69 RS/SS since I was a kid and things just hadn't worked out for me to own one yet. Hopefully the new year will bring my dream to and end and the project will be on the way. Hope I haven't bored anyone to death but I am just psyched about this and hoping it will turn out to be exactly as he has described it to me. I know I haven't posted here but I honestly read the forums here almost everyday and am amazed at the knowledge of the board members and their honest and helpful answers to questions asked. Hopefully I will be asking tons of resto questions in the future and hope I get the same responses to help me bring this car back to life.

Eddie

Been pondering this post for sometime but thought since the site has such great folks here I would let everyone know how great everyone truly is. A friend of mine thought enough of my son to send him a loaner car so he may take dad to the car shows and to the monthly cruise nights over the next year while my 68 RS is hopefully completed. Yes a loaner car and check out what it is, A 68 Z28 and this car is spotless all the way to the crossram and carbs!!!

Car arrived the Friday before Xmas, man what a ride!!!

While not really a "gift", i took some of the time I have off over the holidays and put together a few more displays... I've had this old blueprint from the Yenko dealership rolled up in a closet for some time, and decided to dig up some related photos, etc. that were also stashed away and all together it made a pretty neat display... sorry the flash glare is so bad, but its the best i could do...

Do you know the story behind the photo taken of them standing in front of the P-38? I do not recognize this particular aircraft and was wondering the connection. Thanks,
Rick

The pic was taken at a Pittsburgh air show...not positive of the year, but early 80's I imagine. I actually have a whole roll of film he took that day, with all sorts of vintage planes... I'm not any aircraft expert, so I just took out the pics with Don in them and put them in my display... eventually I will get ALL of his pics properly displayed... there are some really weird ones, including pics of his cat, pics of the outside of his house decorated at Christmas, and pics of people I have yet to identify. In fact, you will see in one of those pics he is standing beside a guy with a tan sweater... this man apparently went to the airshow with him, as he is in several pics, but I really have no idea who he is. Warren Denorshak was very helpful in Identifying some of the folks in alot of my photos, but I didn't have them all with me at SCR8. Heck, he even found himself in a few of the vintage racing photos... pretty neat! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I won the blueprint and some of the photos on ebay a few months ago, yes, what of it? The remaining pics I have had for years and came out of Don's personal files. Some still have wallpaper stuck to the back. Even the stuff from ebay was from Don's personal collection, and was originally purchased through one of his estate auctions. I have the certificates for them.

you will love one of those floor jacks. I just hope the car has a high enought ground clearance in the back.

We used the same jack he got to get the BM vette ready for SCR7. They are TRICK"...!!!! Not to mention they are alum on the sides and have a one piece roller across the entire front of it so that it will go under a low car.

They have a Quick pump action that will raise the center all the way to the top in Two or three strokes. I have two of them and as reasonable in price as they are, I can't recomend either of them high enough. The std black jack is on sale often for $99, and the Racing alum Jack is only $129.

They also have a good pair of smaller Jack stands for only $20 on sale sometimes.
