Some interesting reading, but lots of mis-information there too.
Hello, I recently purchased a 69 camaro off ebay. It appears to be a base camaro but it has 140 mph speedo. Did the base camaro have 140mph speedo? Just wondering, Thanks Jeff

no, only COPO 9737 cars...they do reproduce 140 speedo's though... post some pics, and let the fun begin.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Gents....................
Check out the 1967-02 Camaro White Book for starters. Lots of basic as well as advanced info there. You'll not be sorry!

Thanks, it must be a repro, I don't have any pics yet but the Ebay item # was 4507565344 maybe you can view it there. Protecto-plate says it was a 307 car. Thanks for your info. Jeff

Jeff, Looks like a neat porject, and pretty complete to. Does it have power disc or power manual brakes (I noticed the booster)?

"After two years of watching the Ford Mustang enjoy tremendous success, General Motors finally launched its entry into the pony car segment, the Chevrolet Camaro."
Guess this means we have to wait for 2007 for another Camaro? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Rich
Rich, it does have the power disc brakes.
Guess we'll have to wait and see about a camaro comeback, might be interesting.

Kewl,
my "first love" first car (1980-81)was a 69 Camaro, 307, 3 speed stick car. Saved 350 dollars over two whole years. My dad was a mechanic. At first, he did not want me to get the car "To Fast" he says. The old man selling was asking 500, but went down to 450. My parran (godfather) lent me the extra 50$, and talked dad into it. As I could not drive a stick yet (and at 15!) Dad had to drive it home. I will never forget when we got about six blocks from home, he turns to me as he stops at a stop sign. Grins. Then says, "Son, if I ever" punches it, leaving a trail of smoke and rubber, "Catch you" Churps second gear, "doing this" shifts into third "I will take it away and keep it for myself!"
We spent a year fixing her up. Cam, headers etc, painted it deltron "firethorn" red with keystone classics. Posi in the 10 bolt.
Two years later, when I was a senior, I was in the distributive education (business class) program and went to a convention over a fri-sat-sun. When I came home, my mom had a funny story. The neighbors came over to talk to my mom and dad, concerned. It seems that they "caught" me drag racing the previous saturday night, and wanted my mom and dad to do somethings about it. Of course, that was the weekend that I was at the DE convention! Dad had "snuck" the car out and was dragging with the high school kids! Can you say BUSTED! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For example the thread states that there were 7,733 1970 Z28's built when I think there were actually 8,733 built.

It was possible to order both the RS and SS packages, and get a RS/SS Camaro, in which case the RS badging took precedence.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong, the SS badging took predence over the RS when ordered together.

Jason - I don't have specific examples but I think a lot of that has been taken word for word from other publications. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif I think its called plagiarism. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Plagerism is when you put your name on someone else's work, without attribution. Posting someone else's work on your forum is called copywrite infringment. Not nice either way, but the guy's not doing it for money.

"the guy is not doing it for money".
I would contend that the motivation is probably not the goodness of his heart. If you root around the website there is a part of it where parts are sold from the owner of the website. Not a big deal, but I would guess that the part of the website the info is on is designed to drive traffic to his website where that traffic will look at his parts, and potentially purchase. I am not taking sides on this, just thought I'd add my unsolicited two cents.
When someone posts something in a forum it's assumed he/she is the author unless otherwise stated. If another authored the work and you are taking credit for it that is call plagiarism. Copyright infringment is using someone elses work for monetary gains or personal benefit. Since the owner of the site hosting the alleged plagiarism is using it to promote his site maybe he is in copyright violation...

I will let the guy on my website know that he needs to give credit to where he got the info. Yes, I sell parts on my website but if you look, Brembo, TechArt and the other companies that I carry and will carry in the future will in no way fit the cars that are featured on this forum. My website is only targeting the exotic car market. It is funny that when someone posts something like this, just because I thought you people would enjoy reading it, it is looked at as a conspiracy.

I was working on a Baldwin-Motion style '99 SS Camaro. I think that there are pictures of it on my website somewhere. The car is long gone though.
