Jeff,
What year is the car, and who was the driver?
Is it a Z/28, or an LS6 or LS7 car?
Thanks

The driver was Dennis Ferrara, who is lost and nobody knows where to find him anymore. I tried to find him last winter to no avail. There are lots of pic of that car around. it is also a model car that there are bound to be some for sale on ebay.

And here is another article. July 72. From the way they write it up, I think that this is the same car. I don't see any explanation for the different paint. You probably have all of this, but WTH.

Ed any thing on the 71 Issue yet?

Anyone reconize this Yellow Motion Camaro ??

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/HawaiianCamaro/Magazine%20articles/MotionCamaroribboncarinyellow.jpg

Its the Ribbon Car but with its second color scheme which again later changed to white. Some are confused as to what year the car was, it was a 70. As for the color info, I got that from one of the guys that was part of the crew for the car up until the time it was sold and shipped to Hawaii http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif [ QUOTE ]
Actually there was only one car which had updates and 3 different paint jobs. The first was the ribbon car, then it was yellow, finally was white.

[/ QUOTE ] I hope to get more info and pics of the car in the near future. Anyway heres the article from the magazine.

So far thats all I have been able to find out about the car from the last owners son. They didnt start shredding salvaged cars until years after this car went to the yard. No records for cars/VINs were kept http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Still going to keep my eye out for the VIN of this Car just the same.

What kind of info do you need on the Ribbon car? It was one of the few times that Joel gave me free rein & let me paint it & letter it any way I wanted to. It's probably still one of my favorite paint jobs that I painted in the '70s. I also lettered the white race car, but not the yellow one.

Looking for any pics of the Ribbon Car in any of the three colors it was in, White or Yellow. Car was last here in Hawaii with a 2nd Motion Street Camaro that was owned by the say person. Ribbon car is long gone but I would still like pics. Any underhood/interior or suspension pics would be nice as well.

Gary you may have to just set down and write a book about all the different cars that you painted.

I think you may have done the paint on my '69 BM Phase III car that was in the NY auto show. You described the paint stripes to me exactly as they were when I got the car and the quality of that paint was something that I feel is in your caliber of workmanship. It is a shame that the bodywork underneath was done before you came along. It might have held up better. I can tell where the holes for the emblems were filled in and that person knew what he was doing. They never cracked out. But the hood and the back deck area and the wheel well flairs are another story. Too much bondo and it got stress cracks in it that runed the great gold stripes. (see Pic) Are you shure that you didn't extend the lower porton of the wheel well flairs so that they were more like what came out in 1970? I can see that they have been changed from what was done originally. If you can remember you will make Joel much happier ($$$$).

But, I know one thing... the guys on here are a great bunch and would just about kill for any of the stories and info you have on these cars that you could share.

One of these days I am going to visit NY and drop by and see your place. Till then --- Please share some of your memories with all of us here, before they are lost forever.

Jeff... I just bought a huge collection of period magazines. Mainly east coast magazines, HI-Po Cars, Speed and Super Car, Pro Stock, etc. Give me a little time but I'll compose some shots for you. There is some great coverage of the ribbon car...!

Here's that one in color---Photos really don't do justice to that paint job--Gary's talent of creating optical illusions with his art makes you want to reach into the paint to put your hands thru the ribbons --Maybe he has some better quality photos-- http://www.yenko.net/attachments/164814-Ribbon.jpg

Are you talking about the brand Jeff or how they are bowed inwards...? It is a VERY intimidating Camaro! That picture of the Speed and Super Car magazine cannot do that car justice.

Talking about they look. That had to be a heck of a ride when it came back down to get them lined back up and headed down the track straight.

A Motion book from an artists perspective humm. I guess I would have to call Marty Schorr to edit it. Actually I have no plans or even the time.
At present time I am still very busy painting & creating airbrush art or lettering for the automotive industry.
If you are interested you can check out my web site www.localbrush.com (http://www.localbrush.com)

thanks for all the pats on the back Gary
