Any ideas what a car like this is worth or what would be a reasonable price? Looks very nice but not original and no paperwork. Low to mid $30's?

It looks like a very nice car but I think it's over priced at the asking of $45K. It's a small block car with a big block transplant and has std door panels not deluxe to match the rest of the interior. There are no good close-up shots so really hard to say overall quality wise. I don't like the black on the windshield header or the non retractable seatbelts but that minor stuff... Unless the seller can prove it's a real SS don't accept it as one and dpn't pay for it as one.

Seat belts are backwards, male connectors go by the door, females with buckles go on the transmission tunnel.

The RS can is mounted wrong, it's not even tucked up under the fender like it's supposed to be. No headlight washer solenoid on thw wiper motor, no windsheild washer bottle on the passenger fender. Chances of it being an original RS are looking pretty slim, either that or someone did a lousy job of reinstalling the hardware.

ZL2 hood is non functional, brake master cylinder is either a repro, or a replacement, as there are no bleeders. For 45K it should be a bit more correct than that.

I envy the knowledge you boys have on these Camaros, you don't miss a trick! Just showed a picture of this Camaro to Karen and she said "that's the car" !!!! I know that this car has some issues but this is the type of car we are looking for. BB SS/RS 4spd red w/white stripes houndstooth interior etc etc etc find me one please...or maybe someone out there is building one for resale.

I don't think you could get the houndstooth interior in a conv other than the Pace Cars. This was obviously a small block car by looking at the heater core. $45K is a lot of money for a built car, but if that's what you're looking for then originality doesn't come into play so it gets tougher to put a number on the value. As we've said before, a car is worth what someone is willing to pay.

Jeff has a good point Wilma....real BB vert will set you back more....beat them up and take it home.

Wow, excellent observations, especially from the samll photo's. I can only imagine what you guys would find if you looked at the car in person. Great to know what to look for when buying and selling vintage cars, I have a lot more research to do on Camaro's.

Sure you could. I had a documented BB convt. with black houndstooth a few years ago. I have also seen 2 other non Z11 convt's documented with Houndstooth.

Maybe black comfortweave but not the black and white houndstooth. If you look at the GM order sheets, the boxes to check for houndstooth are blacked out. At least that is what the paperwork says and I have never seen one that is documented.

Jeff,
I just received GM documentation of a Canadian imported '69 Camaro 396/325 convertible, Daytona Yellow with white houndstooth interior. Seems that Canada did get converts with deluxe houndstooth interiors, definately rare though.

Cool. Any chance you could post a copy of that information. I've always heard you couldn't get the houndstooth in a conv. What's your trim tag show?

If you are going to spend a good amount of money on a car make sure it has value. You might not mind that it is a built car that is incorrect but when you go to sell it in the future you will be shocked at what it is worth. Take your time. Look, find out then make a decision. Someone on here has to have a nice BB 396 vert for ya!!!

.. just some food for thought

There is a constant flow of nice verts on e-bay. If matching numbers don't matter to you just keep checking e-bay and you should find what your looking for. There is a wide array of different stage camaros there. Also check hemmings, cars on line, and the auto trader collectors section there's lots there too.

There's a blurb in the Camaro White Book that makes it sound like there were no ragtops with houndstooth... I'd be very interested in seeing doc's that support it's use...

Yeah, that's it. Their frozen butts couldn't handle sitting on vinyl seats so they let them get the houndstooth interior in convertibles! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/JeffSucksToo.gif

I need to have the sheet scanned. Do you have a scanner and fax number Belair? If so, please PM me your fax number and I'll send you the docs when I get home.

I've seen one ragtop with houndstooth. None with bench seat (in 67-8).
GM docs say it wasn't orderable and the only one I've seen is a Canadian car. Hmmmm.......
I'd be interested in copies of any GM Canadian docs of converts with cloth interior.

It would definately surprise me if this is a houndstooth interior 69. Aside from the Z11's, I have never seen a convertible with this interior option, only standard and custom vinyl. My 69 convertible has a code (719), Red Custom Vinyl.

Here are the GM Canada docs, RS/SS 396/325 convert, Daytona Yellow, white houdstooth, tinted glass, power top, remote mirror, spoilers, power steering, console/guages, auxilliary lighting, chambered, cowl hood, endura, etc. GM Company car!

Trim code looks to be 727 (picture could be larger), 727 is a standard Ivory and Black interior, not houndstooth.

729 would be houndstooth, but your option sheet would have to show Z87 for custom interior.

Got any bigger images? Is there a second page?

Have a look at #4519407934 on e-bay, plus its a air car.

Camaromb, it doesn't sound like this is the documented houndstooth interiored convertible we're looking for, but it sounds like a pretty cool '69 Camaro nonetheless. Trim rings added to the base XT wheels has got to be a pretty rare wheel option also. Have you been able to contact any previous owners? Got any pics?

That car is totally changed from new. It was originally Fathom Green with white conv top and Dark Green standard interior. You can see the black/white houndstooth seat covers but it has standard black door panels.

A friend in Canada send me the docs. The car is still in Canada currently. I don't have any pictures of it. It has to be one of the latest factory chambered cars also, May '69 built.
