Is it true that the LA built 69 Camaro's did have a build sheet? If so, was it on top the fuel tank or in the rear seat?
Thanks,

My 69 LA Z did not have a build sheet in either place. Build date was 12C.
Many LA built cars have their buildsheet on top of the gas tank.

Darren,
Not ignoring you, just doing preliminary research on the car prior to a decision to sell or keep. Low mileage CA car been in storage 10 years. Rust Free. You asked first, so if sold you have first shot. Thanks guys for the build sheet info.

Pull the back seat and look at the rear seat cross brace. Probably an x-code there in grease pencil.

My friends was found tucked up under the dash on the pass side.
I have a 10C LOS and there was nothing.I've heard they've been found in the headliner, but mines virgin and staying that way.

I found mine on top of the gas tank, drivers side front corner. Drop the tank a little and take a flashlight and see if you see it. I have never heard of a buildsheet for a Van Nuys 69 Camaro found anywhere but there.

I had a '69 L78 SS Camaro convertible built at the Van Nuys plant, the build sheet was on the gas tank, it is called a Chassis Broadcast Copy, there is also a Body Broadcast Copy sheet as well in 1969, however I have never seen one on a Van Nuys plant built Camaro.

More research. Car has single 3/8 fuel line, has brake junction block attached to frame under driver door. Has plate bolted to the frame over rear wheel on drivers side. The original owners manual is stamped Dana Chevrolet. Has SS emblem on grille but not rear panel. No engine size designation on front fenders. Can not be a COPO as the car has factory air unless added later which seems unlikely. Does have original cowl hood with all mechanics in hood still functional including insulation pad. That does not fit with an SS but could have been added later even though it is a GM hood. Power disc brakes. All rosewood trim interior including steering wheel which looks like walnut instead of rosewood.. No console gauges but has tach and center fuel gauge. Has extra heavy duty rear leaf springs with strange mushroom top looking original rear shocks. Has curved neck 4 core harrison radiator. Many COPO details except not possible with air. Possibly 396/350? Todays project will be pulling back seat looking for chaulk X code and/or build sheet, removing alternator to decipher numbers and codes stamped on current small block which does not appear original as it looks cobbled. Droping fuel tank looking for build sheet. I will also get some pics to post. Anything else I should look for in particular or take pics of that may help here?
Thanks,

Joe,
If you think posting a photo of a stamp from a dealer who probebly sold thousands of Chevys in the late sixties will help with info on this car I have no problem with that.....maybe then you could provide some useful intellegent knowledeable input as to understanding the car instead of useless skeptisism and sarcasam? If you would like I can run downtown and take some pics of owners manuals with Berger stamps on them, I am sure they are just as rare and unusual.

A curved neck radiator would be used on a BB Camaro w/AC.
Dont think it is a 396/350hp, to my knowledge they have return gas line also. One of my cars is a 69 396 / 350 hp, also with air, it has the curved neck radiator. I dont know if that was standard on only the BB, or if it also came on the SB's together with AC.

AC was not available for solid lifter Camaros in '69. SB Camaros with AC did not get a bent neck rad. The bent neck on BB Camaros was to give adequate clearance for the top rad hose from the AC compressor http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Here's a stamping of a P-Plate from a car sold near Dana.Nothing in the owners manual and the same with the other's that I have from S.California.I've owned a couple of Camaro's that were sold new from Dana and I don't recall anything stamped or written in the owners manual.Maybe it was something new for '69.I know it only took me a whole two minutes to grab the camera and post a picture.

Joe,
Just waiting on dropping the tank so I can hopefully also send you a copy of the build sheet if LA cars prove true to the fact that there should be one on the tank. Anyone have any prior experience with a 69 Camaro tank/build sheet I would apprieciate any ideas on the best way to go about it. Are they glued on? If so, take a photo and leave it in place? Any neat tricks on removing one without causing damage? Also, found the car does have the second fuel line, it has been cut and crimped off along the subrame behind the engine. The AC box looks somewhat cobbled on the firewall, different bolts/nuts, lacking mounting seals etc, etc. AC dash pad was once dark green then dyed black many moons ago.
Thanks,

Darren,
I am going to try and make today (Sunday) photo day and grab pics of this car and the Chevelle I have posted in the For Sale section. I would much rather be at the beach taking pics of Bikini's with women attached to them, but Michigan right now would only have one advantage at the beach, no expense for ice in the beer coolers. Also makes more room in the coolers for beer, and less people on the beach trying to drink your beer............Heck, I almost got myself talked into it, I better quit thinking of all the reasons it would make sense.........

You usually can see the tank sticker hanging off the drivers side of the tank by looking over the rear tire. If it is there just drop the tank and dust it off with one of those real soft dusting brushes. Then take a good digital pic. Then I would cover the sticker with clear plastic, seal it with tape and put the tank back up in the car.

Somehow I dont think the local boys in blue would go for the "Im just here to take a photo" explaination. The car has been sitting for 15 years so I dont think it or the owners manual is going to get away. Darren,
I wasnt aware of any photos other then the one concerning this thread being asked for, As for anything in the way of a car I may be working on locating or aquiring for someone who can afford it, I learned it best not to discuss it here as there are some on this board who just like to keep stirring $@#*. The whole purpose of this thread to begin with was to gain some useful information, which I have from most who posted. I dont mind helping anyone with anything, but I am certainly not going to go out of my way for anyone who is just trying to start $#@*. So, if you an interest in something I may be able to help with, treat with respect and you will be treated with respect in return. This thread has been taken way off track from what I was initially asking, so if we cant get it back in the right direction we may as well have a moderator lock it down. Unlike the past I am trying my best to behave in a civil manner so as not to waste time for everyone who comes here to learn something, myself included.

That is really the only thing you had said that pushed my buttons as you really dont know anything about me so I will take the time to bring a little bit of understanding between us as I have heard you are a good guy, rather then two people with the same love of the hobby alienating each other it makes more sense to be able to work together.

Joe,
The point is this. As soon as I am able to catch up with the owner of the car who owns a carpet business and works a lot of of town I will get the photos of the car and get them posted or Emailed whichever the owner prefers. Also, no one has stated that this is a Dana Camaro for sure yet either, having an owners manual with the Dana name on it does not yet prove it is a Dana car. As for asking, you only have to ask once, as Jeff said, when I have the opportunity to make it happen it will. I am starting to get a bit worn about this same discussion, if the subject is left alone until I get the photos I will satisfy the requests. If I have to keep repeating myself about this when I get the info I will Email it to those who have not been bugging the hell out of me. If that is not good enough then oh well.........

Supercar Kid,
I was not referring to you or 99% of the board members here with my most. Nearly all who posted in this thread had some positive helpful input to offer as to the location of the build sheet. I apprieciate that help and I am certain then when I can get behind the locked doors of where the car is at that the info I recieved here will help a great deal with the build sheet location. Darren, you asked first and I do apologize for not answering your initial quetion about the car possibly being for sale, if it is you will have first shot at it. I made a mistake when I used the term Brats, it should have been Brat. I re-read the entire thread to find that 13 posts have been made by Joe all concering the same issue, asking for a photo of the owners manual which I still have no problem with, but in all thirteen posts it seems onesided as no positive input has been offered by you to address my initial question. The whole concept of this board is a two way street, you give and you get. If I have offended you in the past Joe I wasnt aware of it, but what ever the case just give it up, Ok? I do not respond well to the pressure that comes with 13 posts all regarding the same thing, what you want. After I have the opportunity to take the photos you can get them from any of the board members who were helpful in this thread as I will Email all of them the photos I take. It takes all kinds to make the world, everyone dont get along, so you go your way and I will go mine. If you wish to continue this crap then lets take it off the board as this is just a waste of everyones time. The amount of time I have spent responding to your repeated statements I could have got the photos taken. Dont go away mad, just go away.
