Found these in the January 2002 Vette magazine. Those guys look like kids! Joel Rosen is behind the wheel and the car's owner, Charlie Snyder, is second from right.

Not sure that the first two are of the same car. It appears to be a stock vette with out any lettering or performance equiptment. It may have turned out to be the Ko Motion car later.

Pictures got to be from Raceway Park in N.J. and Astoria Chas I believe was killed in Nam by friendly fire.

Sam, Chas was killed by friendly fire. He let other soldiers get on the chopper before himself not thinking that his wound was that bad....sad for someone to die so young. Joel always said that "Charlie was a super nice kid."

That doesn't look like E-town to me, with that dip mid-track. Also, there's no airplane hanger on the right side at the finish line. In those days the right side of the track was the pits, and I don't remember the trees being so close.
God, I love those pics though!!!!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Hey Vern, Isn't that E-Town where the car is parked along the fence and the guys are talking? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif I know it has to be around 1967 or so?

I looked at them again Vern, maybe you are right. Because of the vastness of the area it looked like Raceway Park to me. Maybe it is Suffolk County or New York International. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

The photo captions say it was New York National Speedway.

Thanks for clarifying TJ. I was pretty sure I remembered it right. I first went to E-town in late '66. This is off-topic, but I want to share it. I remember after it rained, they'd bring out a Piper Cub (tail dragger), rev it up, ride the brakes, then do "S" s up and down the track to blow the water off. I guess you could say it was the first drag strip drying machine..... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Wish I would taken a picture of it....

aahhhhhhhh, the memories...
