Quick Survey. The topic of earliest LS6 has been covered on various forums, but I didn't come across info on my subject. I am curious to know what the LATEST build date is for a 1970 Chevelle LS6. I am assuming they probably built these into July, but would be interested to see what you have or have had.
To get things started, I have a 06E (per cowl tag) build date and a 06-30 (per build sheet) scheduled build date.
Thanks,
Sam
Six plants built them.
Once within the month of July,go by the VIN# or schedule/sequence # to narrow it down even more.
What is your Plant & Vin#?
PM it if you like.

It was built at the Lakewood plant in Atlanta.
VIN is 177XXX. I suppose I should not reveal the entire VIN so the car's identity is not stolen. Latest scheduled production date will probably do.
Sam
I have three within your last week of June,6-30, from Lakewood.
Your VIN# is the later of them all,so right now you are the last I know of for that month from that plant.
I have a few Late July Built LS6's from other plants.
Sam
I pulled the records & found your 6E Chevelle is actually a July built Chevelle at Lakewood.
6E is when they started,which was a Tuesday.July 1st was Wednesday.
The Last VIN# built at Lakewood in June 70 was #177542.

Rick,
What records that you have indicate the actual build date of my car? I was not aware that such info was available. Thanks nonetheless!

These are Chevrolet records of the LAST VIN# units from each plant for the model year 1970.

Hmmmm..... seems like a small price to pay for being one of the few in-the-know. Even if it were for a short time!

Rick,
Sorry, abit slow on the up-take. I think I understand now. The last VIN built in June at Lakewood (per your docs) precedes my VIN. Now, given my VIN being about 330 or so later can you assume which day in July it was built or do you know it was built 1 July?
Sam
Right now we can only guess from other examples.
I would guess yours was rolled out the factory the first week of July.As it was usually hours or days after the cowl tag date.
NICB would be able to show when the car was dropped off & signed for at the selling dealer, but I can not access those records anymore.
