You know Bud, I don't know anything about this Nova. This is the first time I have seen this auction on Ebay. If anyone is interested, I can call the owner and make arrangements for me to come look it over.

I will try and give him a call tonight, to see what info he can give me. Maybe if he has documents, he can fax or email them to me. We'll give it a shot!
I don't know if I can cross over from 69 Camaro's to a 70 Nova. But then again, you never know. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

See if you can get a motor #. A friend of mine has been talking to the owner prior to ebay and the asking price was $20k. If it is a no rust car would be a lot of fun and probably worth the bucks. The guy was willing to give any info he was asked about. Jim

Hey is that a berger emblem on the back of the car. I dont think its a yenko they stopped in 69 and I dont beleive there were any 70 nova 427 orderd from copo. Could it be a stock ss nova altered for customer by berger and is there such a thing as an ss berger 427 nova. Its still way cool like those dog dishes.

GM did not offer a 427 as a COPO or RPO in a Nova. ever. It would have to a dealer conversion. So if paper work was on the way why do you sell a possible 100,000 car for 20,000? The answer is you don't. If it does turn out to be a dealer conversion the seller should have done his home work before he put it on E-bay. Just my two cents worth. I like the old car, but the way people try to market their cars http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif m.

It's possable that this car may not belong to the seller. You know the routine, "car was my son's, died in vietnam and kept the car until now...bla bla bla",. It could be an estate sale or maybe the guy just dosent know what he has. Some people ar'nt into the hobby and just walked into a dealership and said "i'll take that one", drove it enjoyed it and now want to sell it. They know it's worth something but don't want to take the time to find out just how much it's worth, they set a price they're comfortable with and thats that.
Hey it happens, you just never know. Thats whats interesting about these cars,...THE HISTORY

That is a cool car. If it did turn out to be a dealer transplant that would be really sweet. But the fact that the car was restored in 96 means that anything could have changed and any clues to look for have probably been altered. But even if there is no history to the 427 swap, it looks like a fun car to own and drive.

Just got of the phone with the owner of the Nova SS. Great guy and answered all my questions with to hesitiation. He was at work, and didn't have the datecodes, casting dates, casting numbers for the engine, tranny, and rearend. He said he will call me when he gets them, either tonight or tomorrow. This is what he told me about the car.
1. Originally an SS350
2. Berger sticker in trunk
3. Berger sticker on fan shroud
4. On the firewall in writing GG BB
5. Engine is an early 454 with 427 parts
6. Block has been decked
7. Winters intake is on the 454, but has been painted orange.
8. Cowl tag info -
733 78R
10B A3
9. Large diameter fuel line
That's all I have for now guys. I am just going to wait until he gets back to me with all the necessary numbers, date codes, casting numbers, casting dates, etc. He did agree with me that anything could have been added in 1996, when the car was restored. Will keep you updated.

He's being upfront.
It will be interesting to see further information he can supply. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

If it was a factory SS 350, it should have one large 3/8" fuel line AND a small 1/4" return line. Did it have the return line?
The L34 also got dual lines, and the L78 got a single large line.

Allen,
That is one of the questions I will be asking him tonight. I will also be asking him the location of the heater hoses going into the heater box, since they are not visible in the pics.

If you really want to start getting tricky, ask about:
1. Crossmember design, shape of clearance opening on the bottom of it
2. Location of speedometer cable coming through the firewall (to determine factory 4-speed or automatic)
3. extra bracket for dual exhaust on the driver's side
4. radiator core support width opening

Tony your killing me here...he cant be 20 mins from you???.LOL..go check it out in person, it may be a real nice car and you will fall in love with it...If I had a spare 20k around I would have been there last night to crawl under it...it just looks like a honest car to me for some reason... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

True Bud, he is not that far from me. I want to wait what he has to tell me before I go look at the car. After I get the proper #'s and codes, I will go and look at it to confirm them. He works during the day, so that option is out.

Just spoke to the owner of the 70 Nova. Car is sold! He is going to end the auction early because a guy from Maryland gave him an offer that he couldn't pass up. Quite a bit more than the current bid of 21k.

...I think the auction is still on....it met the reserve...Can you stop an auction once the reserve is met?
...It's a cool car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
From a dollars and cents standpoint, not a smart move by the seller to end the auction early on a car that was met reserve and has 4-1/2 days left to run. I don't see the up side. If he ends it early I think he will have left some money on the table.

...Looks to me that you still can bid on it...the auction has not been pulled http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

THROW IT IN REVERSE T!!!
Mr. T
03-05-2005, 03:47 AM
When I talked with the owner the first time, I mentioned to him that he should state in the add "that I have the right to end this auction at any time". He never added this to the auction, so I really don't know what is going to happen. If people keep bidding on the Nova, and he already sold it to another party, then there might be some debate on who the real owner is. He should really stop the auction now, especially if the car is sold.
Mr. T
03-07-2005, 09:46 PM
Hmmmmm, the owner ended the auction early. I don't know who the new owner is, but I hope it was one of our very own SYC members. I know he was the high bidder yesterday.
