Does anyone remember a '70 ls6 Chevelle that was forest green, white stripes, black vinyl top, black bench seat, 4 speed that was around the Des Plaines area back in the 70's? Was bought new at Celozzi-Ettelson in Elmhurst, driven by a guy last name of Hartman who worked at a speed shop in Broadview I believe, guy had a trach in his throat. He sold it to a guy named Dave Topak in 1980. Any tips would be appreciated!!!!!

Actually John P (ssl78) and Belair are from that area and might have a better idea. Rob FYI. The speed shop in Broadview was Grand Automotive on Roosevelt Road.

If your looking for Dave Topak try this. (http://phone.people.yahoo.com/py/psPhoneSearch.py?srch=bas&D=1&FirstName=&LastName= topak&City=&State=IL&Phone=&Search=Phone+and+Addre ss+Search) Could be a family member. LaGrange Park is somewhat nearby Broadview.

God forbid you should go South of North ave. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I frequented GRAND AUTOMOTIVE ALOT from 1979-1983.
We mostly used to go there during H.S. Lunch hour,& buy stupid stuff.B&M star shifters & Shift Kits,Cal Custom foot pedals, steering wheel covers,Carb spacers, etc. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I never saw a guy in there w/a Trach in his throat.
I would've remembered that...

Darren, I bought the car from Dave at Super Chevy in Joliet back in 1999. At the time he had the build sheet sitting on the dash,it was stolen sometime during that day after I outbid 2 other guys on the car.As my luck would have it, it was the only copy found with the car and Dave did not have any copies of it... Dave told me who he bought it from, a guy named Tom Hartman, but I've not been able to find him as of yet to see if he as any info on the car.

Man that is really unfortunate.....the papers are really important these days...I hope everyone makes copies and put the original in a safe place...you hear of this more and more.

I agree 100%. Put those docs away (a safe is good!) and have color photo copies made for display. I still see orig docs displayed at shows. 'Spose they'd leave a 69 Camaro Hurst shifter or an NOS delco battery lying next to the car? Same thing...

I would think if any one knows the car or owners it would be Randy from grand Automotive in Desplaines. Last time I talked to Randy he owned a marine buisness called Powerbrokers they were in Villa Park but has since moved. A search shows they are know in Itasca 630 775 1100 I do not even know if Randy still owns it or not.

Bob as far as I remember they were owned by the same owners. I remember the one in Broadview and the one in Desplaines. Not sure if there were any others.

I think there was one on Green Bay Road in Waukegan, they always had some hot Mopars there including a Yellow A990.

I remember when Whitlock/Giant,(Tame compared to a Real SpeedShop),opened their chain of stores here in Villa Park in 1980.
