Special paint crossram Z28 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4533221911&ss)
Has anyone seen all the paperwork on this car? I know we discussed it before, but I still have trouble with the story that the car was ordered with JL8 brakes and it sat for 3 weeks waiting for the option. Was it really ordered with JL8 brakes or was the HD rear disc ordered from the parts department at the dealership? There is a long time delay from the dealer taking the order and the car being built. Maybe the combination of parts caused the delay. Definitely a unique car.

That "Carolina Blue" Z/28 was on E-bay in the past. I don't know if it's the same owner still trying to sell it or if it had changed hands. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I am one of the owners of this car. This car would not have gone up for sale, but I have a partner on the car I can not seem to talk to anymore. A word of advice - Don't go in partnerships, something always seems to happen. This car is as real as real gets. It was purchased from Spencer July 2004 and went from Longmont, Colorado to Lone Tree, Colorado. Look at the order forms it shows 4 wheel disk breaks. The car is as real as real get. I hope that helps.

Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle (from the auction) is he sayin he can tell you he will fix somthing but as long as he signs nothing he is in the free and clear??

Joe, I see the 4 wheel disc brakes on the order form. But do you know from the previous owners why the car never received them? The order placed in Feb 69 was right in the middle of the JL8 option time frame. I also see the HD clutch listed which would be the MN6 option but that does not show up on the window sticker either. This car can offer some great insight into some options that were listed and ordered, but never installed.

Something happened to the order somewhere along the line, as it wasn't approved by GM for at least 3 months. Body numbers were assigned when the car order was accepted by GM. This car was ordered in February by the bill of sale, but it has a body number of 355xxx which is a fairly high body number and is a June build. The order had to have been held, either by the dealer, or it wasn't approved by the Zone for some reason. Probably why the JL8 and Chambered exhaust were deleted, since they were no longer available by the time the order was approved. Wonder what happened along the way.

All I know is what was told to me by Spencer and the Mag ad. The car sat for 2 to 3 weeks to receive the parts needed for the JL8, then the option was cancled. Hope that helps.

IMPRESSIVE!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
No doubt a very nice car. However, the puffing about the factory installing the 140 cam, hd valve springs and lifters, and cross ram? Not buying it. I would think that with Jerry's documentation in his fact book, no one out there would continue to believe these "factory installed" stories on cross rams. Not even any mention on the order sheet. As far as why it didn't get JL8 and HD clutch, I think that is explained on the order sheet. "Subject to invoice pricing" Car was probably held up while they were waiting on pricing info. When customer saw the pricing, those items were cancelled. Nothing against the seller. Maybe a great guy, just as honest as they come, and I certainly don't mean any disrespect. The first owner may have even told him the car came from the factory with the cross ram and 140 cam. Doesn't mean it did. Seller states:
"All I know is what was told to me by Spencer and the Mag ad" Well we all know there has NEVER been in misinformation in a magazine, right?
Ditto Charley Lillard on the black grill.
Further, Jerry states "dealer installed striping". That may also apply to the cross ram and camshaft change. These cars had to meet emissions standards. Why do you think GM calls the 140 cam an "off road" item? Don't get me wrong, I like the 140 cam. Have installed it on 3 different 302's (a 67, a 68 and a 69, just by coincidence), but that doesn't make the car worth more IMHO.
Again, I know we tend to nit pick these ebay listings to death, and I am not trying to do that. It is what it is. A very well optioned Z/28 with special paint, in this case special color and probably stripe delete so the dealer could paint the wrap around stripes on. Not the only - - paint car out there for sure. A friend of mine had one this exact same color with a white vinyl top (not a Z). Wasn't ordered with 4:56 gears, but according to the documentation, 4:10 gears. I would think the sellers are joyed beyond belief to get 150k for this car.
Just my 2 cents.

Great car. Is that original paint on it?
The order form and window sticker tell a lot of the story. Crossram, extended stripes, cam, etc were all done after the car was shipped.
I doubt the car sat anywhere. Norwood had no facilities like that and would not retrofit parts after production.
Rear belts are deluxe, fronts are standard.

The last time this car was on eBay the grille outer was not body color. Since then it looks like someone had corrected that. Not sure why the silver inner was overlooked. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I hate to be negative about this guys car, and my 2 cents really doesn't matter. Until someone knowlegdeable ( Kurt, Jeff, Darren)personally checks this thing out, I don't know what but something just doesn't seem right about this whole dilema. What happened on the 1st E-bay auction??? Again sorry for the negative thoughts but just saying what a lot of people are thinking. Has anyone looked at the car??? No doubt it's a very nice car and I hope they do well with their auction

I believe the current owner(s) bought the car when it went across the Ebay auction last year so it did sell then. As for the current bidding, I sure hope they are legit bids or it's a big waste of time.

Personally, I don't think it matters one bit what is on the order sheet if it didn't come with it as far as the value of the car. That order sheet is a cool piece of the car's history, but not as important as a build sheet or original window sticker. Suppose I ordered a 69 Camaro with a 427, and for whatever reason, things were botched & I got the car with a 250. I say "oh well" and go ahead and take the car. Is it now worth any more? I don't think so. Again, nothing against this seller. If someone wants to pay 200k for this car and then use propr owner's statements and the magazine to "prove" he has the world's only factory installed cross ram, power to him or her.
Just my two cents.

I would just like to say again, Yes the car is real. My writeup mostly consists from the mag ad of 1993. I am a VERY Honest guy and I am not trying to pull anything or miss lead anyone!
It is unfortunate that I have placed myself in the position I am in to sell a car I really did not want to sell, but an agreement is an agreement. I honestly state I tried desperately for 10 hours on Friday to buy him out, oviouassy to no avail.
Yes, Spencer sold this car to me July 2004. I flashed enough Cash and he sold the car to me and stopped his auction.
Yes ALL the bidder are REAL!
Yes the car has been viewed by 2 separate bidders over last weekend and let me also say a lot higher offer was made then on ebay now if I pull the car!
I, like problually most of you am amazed on what is being bid on for this car and for the life of me do not know what is making this car this valuable.
Like most of us trying to sell a car today we all would like to get the most for it and the value of anything is in the eye of the beholder. Why do clones at BJ bring $112k?
I, like probually most of you am also in shock that this car hit the reserve on the 1st day. I would also like to ask everyone not to put down this car it really is a beautiful car and does not deserve that, but I can only ask.
I would of thought all of us being fellow hobbyist we would all like to see these car bring big bucks and not bash them, nit pick an ad apart or the person selling them just because someone can’t afford them or they think there’s is the only one or the best one out there, when that just might not be so.
I post this with no disrespect to anyone on this site at all but please understand I am already upset that I am sell this car isn’t that enough for an old car guy.
Say what you will, I can’t stop ya. I only have my 440, 100% Positive feedback’s on ebay to vouge for my integrity.
I am not tearing into you in anyway, but want to ask,how do you as a seller know that is real money being Bid right now?
Are you able to do a financial background check on those bidders?
It seems to me,the only way you will know for sure if it is real money,is once the auction has ended.

One of the bidders has deposited a large sum of money into a holding account to show me that they will win this bid and wants the car that bad. Only that deposit is refundable. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

That's good to hear that the bidders are for real. There are a lot of guys out there playing games on Ebay(and I'm not referring to sellers, referring to bidders who bid things up trying to enhance the value of a similar car). I can't imagine where the bidding would be if the car actually got all the options he tried to order. So are the top bidders UCLA fans or UNC fans? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif And don't let the negative comments get to you, look at it as constructive criticism. Good luck with the auction, it's doing great already.

I may be one of the "some of the people on this site" who has offended you. I hope you understand that in no way did I ever question your integrity. I have no doubt that you have accurately repeated everything you have been told about the car. I am happy to see you get such a great price for it. It can't help but push the prices for little guys like me that only have a plain jane Z/28.
I am truly sorry if I upset you by my remarks. That was not my intent. I believe sites like this are for the free exchange of ideas, and that means there will be some disagreement. But we can disagree without disrespect. Anyway, I can say the car isn't worth $xxxxxxx, but if someone gives you that for it, then I guess I am wrong, aren't I? All that means is it isn't worth $xxxxxxx to me, which really is acedemic, since I don't have that to spend on a car. In 1984, I remember the guy at muscle car ranch in Chickasha, OK asking $15,000 for a white Z/28 he described as "tight and right". I thought he was off his rocker. Guess not, huh?
Best of luck with your auction. Looks like a home run already, and it will only get better.

Lynn - again let me say I posted my comment with no disrespect to anyone, including you at all on this site, but please understand I am already upset that I am selling this car, as anyone would be I believe.
I am just very thin skinned and sore over this BS with the car and I will admit taking some of the comments I read to heart, which maybe I shouldn’t. But if you were in the situation I am in, I wonder how you would be feeling. Granted I put myself in this position and shame on me and never again.
So if I offended you or anyone else, I am sorry. Again let me say I mean NO disrespect to ANYONE on this site at all.
Yes this site is for the free exchange of ideas, and that means there will be some disagreement. And yes we can disagree without disrespect.
I was not in the least offended by anything you said. I only wanted to clarify because I could tell you were upset. Sorry you are in the position you are. I would hate to have to sell my car, as I have had it since 1976, so I fully understand the emotional attachments we have with these cars.
Again, no problem here. Case closed as far as I am concerned. Best of luck to you.

Thanks Joe
Write down the current Ebay BOGUS auction number it is selling at now.
Then get your REAL auction number you were selling it at recently.
Call EBAY Customer Support at 1-888-749-3229 & tell them what is happening.
I find this works Much faster then emailing them & waiting.

thats great Joe.I have seen these ads come up only on very desirable cars and they mostly allways have a notice that you must be pre approved before bidding and then after you email them they respond with a request for prepayment of shipping before you use the buy it now price.its a major scam.hope everyone notices the m.o. they use.they really have some nerve dont they.
Before the auction was pulled, I emailed the "seller":
Are you really selling this car, or is this a joke?
I just received the following reply. BTW, I searched his IP address, and he is in Amsterdam.
