While traveling the countryside yesterday, I came upon an old, and I mean old Chevrolet dealership building. It is not open anymore, but there on top of the building was one of those beautiful "Super/Chevrolet/Service" signs. I've got to get up there and get this thing down.

I live in Austin, but I was taking pictures of a new location that a customer purchased and this was north of Waco. Talked to someone outside the building and they told me that the sign stopped revolving years ago when the truck wheel bearing it sits on siezed.

I love going in those old dealers.I recently had a chance to rummage thru a Mopar dealership that has been closed since 1980 or so...Went in to clear it out right before demo started and "took" a few neat pieces. Most of the time age and water damage can get the best of what is left.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif My friend was just in an old Ford dealer today. It's now a $hit hole used car dealer/repair shop.He said there is a TON of old promos and parts in there........ I can't wait to find out more...

In Wells Texas there is an old Chevrolet dealership building that is vacant, the brick building has a Chevrolet logo designed in it when built.I have been waiting to see someone buy the building but not yet.My Wife and I go by it all the time when we visit our Daughter and Grand Children in Alto Texas.I used to live in Wells Texas in the early 70's and the dealership was still in business.I would guess it closed in the late 80,s or early 90's.If it was not too far for me to travel to the medical center,I would buy it and renovate it with living quarters in the back and show room in the front.Only problem is I do not think my Sweetie would go for it!I will try to remember to take a couple of pics of it next time we go visit the kids.

I fished this one outta New Jersey years ago, it is two sided with 9 bulbs inside. Attracts too many bugs at night, So I put it in one secion of the the garage. Now it attracts diecast...... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
