Charlie, if you don't mind my asking, why did you sell the 02? I would love to have Lamar's old #51 to go with my 02 #51. In fact, I wouldn't mind having the COPO GM sent him that just sold for $187K (is that right?). BTW, the BJ guys had their facts wrong on why GM sent Walden Racing the iron blocked car.

I sold the 02 because I was going to have emissions problems here in Ca. and I was gonna get a 02 Dick Harrell car. Why did they send Lamar the iron block car ?

He took the car, his was the first delivered, straight to Gainesville, FL (I think, it was somewhere in FL) and set a new C-stock record. Buster Couch called him when he got home and said the HP rating from GM was way off and he would be forced to move to B-stock against the twin 4 barrell hemis. Lamar told me this past Fri. that he felt at the time Chrysler had the NHRA in their back pocket. Also, the HNRA complained that even though the min. (50) had been built they were not on the street. There was no way a single 4 barrell 427 could compete with the hemis in B-stock.

Vince Piggens then sent him the slightly detuned iron block so Lamar could run in C-stock and keep GM prominent in drag racing. Lamar's car did drop a valve on the drive home from the dealership and I believe the same thing happened to Dicky Harrell. But that was part problem, I think he said bad valve springs, and did not effect the later ZL1s. Lamar said Vince already knew of the problem and expected the call.

I'm going to have emissions problems here too. But I can get that taken care of. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You can solve emissions problems by putting a bottte of Jack Daniels in your car. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

On the front seat,on top of the emission papers.

I find you get better results with a Merlot. http://home.mchsi.com/~angieknoll/drunk.gif
