I have a Hot Cars article where they did a '69'-70 Mustang. Can't remember if it was a Shelby or not.

while I am not the know all of Shelby's, I am well versed in them. Also an active Owner and Member Of S.A.A.C. and I cannot rule out that Motion may have toyed with one, but I am willing to bet that it was an independent project if it happened at all. Shelby was on his way out in 1968, He had closed the Doors on Shelby American and FORD was producing the 1968 Shelby themselves using A.O. Smith industries in Livonia Michigan to complete the transformation. But hey, it was the 60's! I personally have never read any publication or even heard rumor of such an animal.

Correct me if im wrong, but is there only 1 REAL shelby mustang super snake in exsistance?. If so, who built it?, could that be built by motion?. I believe it was a 67
1967--Shelby American built the Super Snake--- http://www.yenko.net/attachments/129770-Scan0025.jpg
Anyone could have gone to M/P to have work done to whatever level they wanted----

Charley owns the one an only. He raced it at SCR8, an awesome piece of muscle car history. Built at Shelby America and modified by the shelby team. Charley are you there??

You are correct That there is only ONE SUPER SNAKE! SHELBY Built it and Motion had nothing to do with it. (Except gain inspiration possibly) http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gifand The Current "Keeper" of the Super Snake is a Forum member/moderator! maybe he could chime in some??

Yes I have the Super Snake and they only built one. It was built by Shelby and Motion had nothing to do with it. Yes I had it at last years reunion. I was not going to drag race it but the Deuce Dorks were having so much fun I asked the Clarys to take their trailer back to the hotel and bring back the Shelby. I did make a few passes but I was not soft shoeing it...I am just a crappy drag racer. I ended up driving it back to the hotel....Now I gotta rebuild the carb and take it to SAAC 30. http://www.yenko.net/attachments/129808-10-12-04002.jpg
It showed very well at SCR7.
Now wheredya get that SIGN! http://www.sg-online.net/vb/images/smilies/radioactive.gif
Dang that is a good looking car. Thanks for sharing it with us at SCR7. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I fellow I know thru the internet sent me pics of it a couple years ago saying he was going to buy it if he ever got his Porsche sold. I asked him if I could buy it if he didn't and he told me to go ahead. Turns out it had been on Ebay twice but had not met reserve. it took awhile but I managed to get it bought. I have nothing to do with the new ones.

Hey Charley, that's a helluva car. But it just doesn't quite have the LOOK I associate with it. Are you going to change the tires before SAAC 30? Most of the pics of that car are from its 170 mph tire testing session, and on that day it proudly wore WHITEWALLS on its 10-spoke rims. If Marlin can shoe his Deuce properly, why not the Super Snake?
Respectfully (with tongue only partially in cheek)

12bolt My Shelby is not for sale. That is why I did not have you up to look at it, I did not want to waste your time. As far as afraid to show it all can see it at the Ford Nationals at Carlisle in Building Y. It will also be in a magazine as a picture shoot is scheduled in the near future. It has been at two shows last season and at Vargo, where a few members from this site saw it. I have fine tuned it further by adding correct Goodyears and other detail items. There is nothing to hide on that car as it is all numbers matching and it has loads of original paperwork, plus about 250 pictures of the totally rust free body during restoration. It's really hard for me to sell a car that has so much documentation and original.

I actually have no Doubts about your car or your Documents on it. It looks great! I just thought that when I met you in person and took time out of my Busy schedule for you, the least you could do is respond to an e-mail or PM. Since you chose not to, I took this avenue to let you know that I do not appreciate your Failure to respond after saying you would. No not at all! I was curious as to why he was not responding to me after we had agreed to do so. He is a real good guy, who like the rest of us Caught in Mid life is juggling Kids, Job, wife and then our Passions for Cars. I knew I would draw a response and I did. he contacted me and it is all good. His Car is a top notch example of how a restoration should look upon completion. Chevy,Ford or Mopar, anyone would be happy to have their Beloved auto looking that good and Correct.

I am a Man who is true to his word, and expect the same of others when I extend myself. if all goes as planned, I will be at Raceway Park and look forward to seeing some sYc members in person. It is always great to talk in "Real Time", instead of hours or even Days apart!! on these Forum settings, people of all walks of life can chat. Some wish they had Cars, while others have too many Cars. and the rest fall in between. one thing is certain. The amount of Cars or lack thereof, never changes who you really are. it just dictates how you will be spending your weekend. Happy Easter one and all! Unless of course you are a Muslim and find that statement Politicaly/religiously incorrect.
This was a '67 GT350 that Motion set-up for street/strip and in the article it mentions setting up GT500'S----So there could be Some Shelbys that were set-up for street/strip action but you would need some sort of documentation of the extent of the mods done by M/P-- http://www.yenko.net/attachments/130995-shelbyjoel.jpg

Charley, Kevin Suydam also owns a 427 side oiler and on his web site he says his car is one of 3. Now your car is "the" Super Snake but can you really call it a one off or is it truely one of the 3? Not trying to bust balls just curious on the matter. (when are you going to have your own web site w the collection on it???)

If I may, Charley has THE Mel Burns Ford car which was the first of what were to be a number of 427 Medium Riser equipped GT500's offered primarily through that dealer. But (much like Gibb's ZL-1 order two years later) the ultimate final sticker price of $7500 put it into 427 Cobra land, and out of the reach of most potential buyers.
SAAC has Shelby American invoices showing that two other '67's received 427MR's at Shelby (not selling dealerships or sometime later). Kevin S. would appear to have one of those two cars.
Now about those whitewalls, Charley.......
Charley Lillard
03-30-2005, 02:10 AM
They only built one Super Snake. They supposedly built 3 427 side oiler cars but neither of the others were built as Super Snakes. Mine is a 26K mile car that has been detailed and spot painted over the years but is in pretty good shape. The Super Snake was supposed to be the baddest street car and they were gonna do 50. The three stripes were part of that package. I have not seen any real pics of the other two but neither were done with the three stripes. As for whitewall tires like were on the Super Snake for the Goodyear tire test, does anybody have a nice set of Goodyear Thunderbolts ?

[/ QUOTE ]You are comparing Apples to Oranges. Charleys Car is at the top of the Pecking order. Hands down. A true 1 of 1 Car Driven By Shelby at a High Rate of Speed for many Hours testing Good year tires. The other "Invoices" SAAC has about 2 other cars....I have never seen them or heard of anyone who has. Your Made in 1967 "GT500" is a very Desirable Car. It has The wrong Color and the wrong Engine. Does that hurt it?? 10 years ago, Hell Yeah! at this point, the Car game is Playing by a new set of Rules. It would only eliminate a Minority group of Buyers. Now these Eleanor Specials are SHELBY Products. NOT FAKES. Lets not confuse the issue. Shelby VINS and in the Registry. They are a SHELBY Product none the less. Yours is from the 60's. These are from the Movies...I mean the new Millenium! They will probably be among the last SHELBY Products ever made. so let me go back a Minute here. 10 Years ago, your Car lost Points due to Color and Non Correct Engine. Today it does not Matter. Fast forward to the year 2015. Shelby will most likely have passed on by then. Thus Making ANY OF HIS PRODUCTS that much more desirable since they cannot be made anymore. Right? a small minority will always be kicking and spitting at the ground saying "They ain't The Real Thing". Meanwhile some Rich Guy who was 14 years old in 2005 and read about how the Eleanor Cars Kick Butt on the Originals and makes it his life Goal to get one, Falls into Mad Cash somehow and will be right there buying that Used, But ORIGINAL Eleanor for even Crazier Money! Why?? Because like every other Car nut, we all want what we wanted when we were too young or just could not Afford it until the time came that you could, So you did! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif Now imagine this. Don Yenko still alive, taking those Brand new 69 Camaro Bodies and remaking YENKO Camaro's. would there be an uproar?? I imagine.
