--------Can anyone tell me the correct number on a distributor for a late (670,000 serial number) Norwood 69 Z28? Also how do you read the date? Trying to see if the one in a car I just bought is original. Thanks in advance...........Bill S

-----Wow, Bud! Thanks for the quick comeback. The date seems early to me (8L4). The engine has been detailed (incorrectly) years ago a bit, but appears to have never been out. It is dated E 20 9 and therefore is so much later than the distributor. I would swear no one ever chased a correct numbered part for this car, but Im not posative. What do you guys think?..........Bill S
Whats the number on that Distributor you said has the 8L4 date?
#1111480 is the Z-28 distributor.

8L4 - distributor date code - Dec. 4th, 68
color code/paint spot: 11/V - gray paint, vacuum equiped distributor
All 69 Z's had the 1111480 distribuor
If the engine block was cast 5 months after the distributor was assembled, that is indeed a big stretch. 1-3 months would be more believable.
Don't know the seller, but here is a 480 dist on ebay dated May 13. Perhaps you could sell yours to recoup the cost of this one.

I have a Dec 68 block with a June or July 68 distributor.
Though not common, chance it is original to the block.
I'm more concerned about the block date to the car.....
Kurt
Can you tell us why are you concerned about that block casting date to that car?

May engine in an August car?
Could be, but I'd be checking for an oil filter VIN....
