My COPO Camaro was Built in the first week of May at the Norwood Plant. Delivered in Mid August to Reedman Chevrolet in Langhorne Pa. with Rally Wheels on it. it has a Rally wheel with a Space Saver Spare on it and the inflator Bottle. I was told that these are Rare. what is the story on these Space saver Rally Rims? second question is about the Tail lights without Reverse lights in them. I think they look cool, and I have seen COPO Cars with and without them. why is that? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

center lense is red with a white center for your backup light lense on a non ralley sport..pop the trunk there has to be two wires with sockets dangling in the middle with no bulbs..

I have also seen the tail lights without the reverse light in them. The white part is red and I'm not talking about an RS lense. These were the standard lenses.

I dont know about any car leaving the assembly line rigged with "no" backup light in 1969..have to show how me how that was possible/legal in '69
12bolt. Looks like you may need to spring for some NOS tail light lenses. Should be some on Ebay for, oh, 12 gazillion dollars a pair. Good thing you don't need a radiator cap, huh?

[/ QUOTE ]No dangling wires. It has a Bulb that acts as an extra Brake light. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif I think it looks cool and it is the way I got it, so I am leaving it be. I will have to check the Harness to see if it is spliced or if it could be some kind of off road deal?? here is an actual quote from the First Owners Best friend about the car, "Man, the Day after Billy brought that Car home, we tore them Exhaust Manifolds off and put a set of Hooker "Super Comp" Headers on there!" when I first came to this site, I frequently saw the Term "Day 2 Car" used. I never heard it before, nor had any of my Car friends. I pm'ed a member who graciously explained it to me and It makes total sense! so I had a quiet Chuckle to myself as this Guy recounted the events of the Purchase and subsequent ACTUAL "Day 2" Activities!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I've never seen or heard of a 69 camaro with no reverse lights...I wonder where those lenses came from... maybe a chunk of tailight spliced into where the white portion was? Weird stuff... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I just clicked on our new sponsor D & R to compare...our sponsor has some very god pricing...neither of these lenses look like the standard lense though. They have the stainless on them.

All 69 lenses have the stainless trim around the perimeter, and the vertical trim pops off if your car does not have that style-trim option. I would imagine all the repros come with the trim, and if you don't need it you can take it off.

Nothing Beats online Catalogs!! But who knows about the Space saver Rally Wheel??

Yeah but who wants to pop off the verticals !!! Gotta be some glue or something on it.

DOH..had RS lenses pasted but the other link saved...click on tailight lenses and you will see the straight red RS lenses with the stainless bar across the middle left to right.

I have seen the lenses and they are not RS lenses. They are standard lenses with a red lense where the white/clear lense is supposed to be. MAybe somebody cut out a square in the bumpy part of the lense and popped out the center and glued it in. It looked real to me and if it wasnt original, they did a great job of it. It looked like it was on the car forever, not some new lense.

Now, back to the space saver spare. I would like to know if the space savers ever came mounted on Ralley wheels. I have a perfectly good space saver spare (BF Goodrich, I think) but no wheel. Also have an extra Ralley Wheel. I always thought the space savers came on a generic grey wheel.
Any body know?

http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=12026379&selected= Budnate, click on the Link here, Not the Attachment. There is a Bulb in the middle and it works as a Brake light. I saw another White COPO Camaro with the Same Tail lights in a Magazine Article recently (within the last couple Years anyway)when the previous owner got the Car, and did research with the Camaro Guru's of the 80's, he was told that only 30 Space saver spare's got mounted on Rally wheels. The First Owner's Brother has Confirmed that the Car came Brand new with Rally Rims and a space saver Spare as well. When was the GM strike? was the Car built(First week of May) preceeding the Strike, Possibly with Disgruntled workers putting what ever came in the Parts bin on Cars as they came down the line??

Could the lens be a replacement from back in the day? Glo-Brite and Dietz both made a lens in the 60's 70's that were collision replacements. They were a good quality lens until the reproductions came out. There biggest flaw was they were not 100% visually correct. It may have been a RS replacement.....
As for the space saver,I have never heard of a rally wheel used.It would have to be a special code 14" rim to be correct.I believe the offset is different as well....I have the option in my 68.....Hurry up spring!

No, space savers were not installed on rally rims.
And those taillights are not as originally installed. No idea on the source of them though.

How about the White 69 COPO with Endura Bumper in the December 1990 issue of "Musclecar Review"? it has The same Tail lights. does anyone know who owns that car? It looks just like mine.

If it has those wacko tail lights in it too, and an endura bumper, I almost guarantee it IS your car.
