Yeah I saw that a while back and was going to start up a thread about it. I'm pretty sure the owner is a member here.. How about some history? Do you know which B/M Camaro that is? Was there any old features of it in original condition?

Hmmm, it lists the headers(loose). Does that mean the car was sold with the stocke exhaust manifolds and smog? And the buyer had to intsall headers and connect the exhaust? Cool paperwork. Did any of the supercar dealers sell cars with headers installed or was that illegal?
Cars were delivered from Baldwin Chevrolet to Motion with stock exhaust and smog intact--Headers were installed at Motion.....
So this is considered a Baldwin-Motion Camaro yes?
Is this how the papers looked,or were there receipts from Motion Performance as well?
I have never seen paperwork on them,so I am asking.
That's the Baldwin Chev. invoice Rick showing the car as being sold new---there is even a trade-in involved, so he had to go thru Baldwin--The options are listed on the invoice. If you went thru Motion you would get documentation on PhaseIII's--. The other cars that had some mods or just an engine conversion would have gotten a work order. This would be a B/M Camaro.

So this is "Motion Camaro"'s car... from previous messages by "560CID68", he has a similar car... with similar paperwork...
I think these cars are two different Camaros.
Their invoices are not exact.

I assume he was showing the ad as to what a B/M Camaro originally looked like.. you're saying this Is this THE car from that ad??? I don't think this is the same car from the ad and previous threads.. That was about the "mindbender" B/M Camaro which is an RS. This car that's all tubbed and tube framed out isn't an RS.
Motion Camaro.. do you have any old pics of your car?? Just curious if it was ever featured in original condition in one of the old CARS issues or something. What was the original colors and options it had?

Here are the original options -> http://www.yenko.net/attachments/133034-baldwinmotion.jpg
This car was an original R/S - S/S.
I talked to the original owner & he took off the disc brakes & R/S parts because they weighed too much.
The car has been off the street (legally) since 1971.
Also: The old frame was exactlly where the reverse light used to be. Now that I put in a tube chassis (19"wide), I can put them back in if I want to.

Ed,
Mine is one of those unknown ones.
The paint on it is original.
As far as I can tell there were never any stripes.
It only has 27,000 miles on it. (68->71)
The original owner said he put the headers,
removed the before mentioned equiptment &
a set of slicks & went 10.30's

Yes Joe, it is the original paint. I can't believe it either.
Here is a picture (of a picture) when I used to street drive & show the car back in the late 80's early 90's.

Looks like it would be a substantial amount of work to put it back to original condition. Right now looks like Mike is having fun with the car just the way it is and he's already got the docs. to prove its heritage. If it were mine I'd have fun with it for awhile the way it is but at the same time be hording away parts as they come along to return it back to the way it was in early 1969 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not a knock on your pro street Vega, but............. you traded a Vega for a Baldwin Motion Camaro? What a bandit!
Back in 1976 I traded an Opel Rallye (not a GT, just a Rallye, you know, Gold with flat black hood and black stripes down the side) for a 1969 Z/28 that had only 26,000 miles on it. I had been "rode hard and put up wet" more than a few times, but still, in hindsight, I did all right, although, nothing like you. BTW, mine is also factory black.

A good friend of mine raced pro stock back in the early 70's and cut up an original Baldwin Motion car to do it,but the car still exists today, and is reported to be in a garage in central Jersey. The car was stolen off the Bladwin Chevy lot back in 1969,and later recovered with no drivetrain and many other parts missing. My friend bought the car as a stolen recovery with salvage papers back in 1969 and fitted it with the powertrain out of his A/MP 67 camaro, and added a glass nose, and had his racing partner drive it for a few seasons in Pro Stock.I even found his car listed in the NHRA list of Fastest prostockers of all time which I belive was for a MPH record. The car had a patriotic red white and blue paint scheme on it and was named "Born Free",and had the neame Neighborhood Garage on the rear 1/4's.The car wasnt a tube car and from what I could make of the pictures had most of the stock floors, and stock front subframe,so who knows, maybe it could be restored by an ambitous restorer.I wonder what Joel would do if somebody wanted to document it.

Yup thats the car Kim.,the rear quarter panel says Neighborhood Garage on it,and the guy who built and tuned it is a good friend of mine, and if you have the article with the car and shop featured in it you can see my friend Joe in the pictures. That car is still floating around in central Jersey somewhere, and hasnt ben touched in about 30 years.so I wonder how the history of this car would be documented of somebody wanted to restore it as a Motion car.I would tend to think it might be worth more as a vintage prostocker though.

05-02-2005, 03:27 AM

Interesting. Joel and I communicate on a regular basis about the hobby and I have not seen any indication he is through certifying Motion cars. In fact, within the last week or so, he and I have discussed a couple of "so called" Motion cars.
As per parts, I know when he was to be involved in the 2002 Motion Camaro project, he had a very limited supply of emblems and some of the other Motion items. At SCR6 he did have us give each participant a pair of original Motion stickers.
Rat_Pack
05-17-2005, 03:32 AM
Tom, that is strange because a couple of months ago I was contacted about a 69 Baldwin Motion Nova the guy wanted verified and I put him onto Joel. He called me back and said that Joel told him "I am no longer verifying these cars." The owner of the car has documentation to prove it is one but wanted Joel's verification to add to his paperwork. I tried about 2 weeks ago about another car I found and got the same reply, "I am not verifying anymore cars at this time."
Now if you know something that I don't, then fill me in as I would like to help this guy out and get something on the other car also..............RatPack...........
Do not know what to say, because, as I said, he and I have visited about a couple of "so called" Motion cars recently. Maybe Joel is tired of the BS and is only dealing with folks he knows/trusts. Which, after reading some of the "hate" emails he gets, I really cannot blame him.

I ordered the clutch for it & while waiting I am wiring the guages & preppin' for the Dyno.
Checked on insurance with Parrish-Heacock while at the Hot Rod Reunion (convenient),
pretty reasonable (cheaper than the clutch) http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.
The reunion was great ... you guys shoulda' been there!
