Need input to determine originality of my Smog system. This is 1st of several posts on subcomponents:

Each clamp has a date code of 1/69. Do repros have date codes? Also, is this an original valve in this picture?

Thanks,

Smog Pump: Heard tell that white fan was indicative of an original as repops are black?

Sam
Black Fans are later 70's issue.

Whats the date on your Pump?
Look for a small machined area underneath with stamped numbers & letters.

Whittek here in Chicago made the tower hose clamps originally.Do you see their name stamped into them?
Repops are date coding them too.

Show me the other side of your Check Valve.

Smog pulley has correct Number & Suffix, and looks real, but need to see it's otherside outside lip.

Not quite sure, but that could be a ASL Smog system.

Tubes to manifold are reproductions, originals are tapered, not crimped.

The end of the original tubes on my '69 Chevelle are capped off and the #1, #7,&#8 cylinder tubes come out of the center of the cap.
Lke Rick-Mr70- said there should be a machined numbered section on the bolt boss on the underside of the pump-ex.#12191S.......

This might help--the diverter valve on the left is NOS, the one on the right is Memmorex(ASL)--Nice copy.
The original pump pulley also had a very deep"V" groove.Just some info.....correction for above--#2,#8,#7cylinders
Can you break down those numbers into English Bud?..... http://www.yenko.net/attachments/135907-Scan0014.jpg

I was trying to learn about smog stuff but had very little luck coming up with much info the guys that know it are not openly sharing...what I gathered is the one I posted is what they refer to as a "Julian date" I think it reads as 98th day of 8 meaning 68 and I cant find me meager notes at the moment the 1 and the Z are where it was made and application or something close to that..hopefully Rick will give us a lesson on the subject.

Bud.
