[/ QUOTE ] The Rumor I have been told by another Shelby Guy who is Deeply entrenched claims that the Car has or is going through a Restoration. They were attempting to get the Good Doctor to bring it to the Concours show at "Radnor Hunt" which is 10 minutes from my house. It was a No Show. Nobody I know of has seen the Car personally. It is one of those cars that is SO Special and Unique to the Shelby World (And the Auto World for that matter) That if it were shown anywhere, it would be in print quickly. Autoweek I am certain would jump on that Car's "Coming Out" Party. I still believe they will make a Movie out of this story. even if it was an HBO deal. too much Drama and Celebrity involvement not too!

If I'm not mistaken...when all this was going down in SoCal...either the Orange County Register or the LA Times had a picture or two of the car....though I could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Amazing story! The reclusive woman sounds like the guy in Wisconsin with the rotting 69 Yenko Camaro in his yard!

I remember reading this story somewhere before and they had pictures. The car looked pretty neglected but looked to be all there.

Xplantdad,
You're right. The LA Times ran the story on Sunday, March 18, 2001, page B3. I still have the article. It has 2 pictures of the car. One picture shows it coming into a corner at Sebring in 1964 and the other picture in it current (2001) condition looking a little battered and patched. I wonder what's really going on with it now?

-------The history of this Daytona coupe includes many, many hours on the salt at speed. Having an aluminum body, and not being protected in any way did a lot of damage. The cost of the resto must be staggering..........Bill S

I asked Fred about his Daytona Cobra about 2 years ago when I went to his
office with my dad. He just smiled at me and said it was fine.
