View Full Version : My new "barn find" '67 Z-28 :)

I just picked up this previously unkown '67 Z-28 and thought that I would share a few pics. It is a one-owner, fully documented car with original drivetrain and body panels, etc. It is Butternut Yellow with black stripes and has a number of neat options: Black deluxe interior, console, tach/gauges, am/fm, fold down rear seat, tinted glass, shoulder harness belts, deluxe seat belts, J56 metallic brakes, factory cowl plenum breather and headers. It has had one repaint in the late '70's and was delivered new in AZ.

This is how it was found...

VERY NICE FIND AND PURCHASE MARK! Glad to see another rare Camaro, such as the 67 Z, saved and going to a good home. It has some nice options too, especially the cowl plenum. Congrats! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Hey Mark,

Congratulations! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

This isn't the car that I sent you the information on, is it? Actually now that I think about it..I think that car was blue http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

When you get time...share some more information on your http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif find. I hope everything else is going okay, also! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks a lot guys http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I appreciate all of your comments.

Jeff, the car was bought in AZ, went to the UK for 3 years, and then back to FL where I bought it.

Yeah Jon, the colors are pretty cool and I love the deluxe interior.

Thanks Bruce. No, this isn't that car - this one is real http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Everything else is getting better...thanks for asking

I will share more details when my Fedex pack arrives next week with the 4 file folders of info, pics and receipts! Gotta love one owner cars! The story the owner told me was that he had been to an SCCA race at Limerock and saw the '67 Z's running and fell in love with them. A few weeks later he was at a Chev dealer in Chandler, AZ with a buddy buying an L78 Chevelle. After the deal was done, the sales rep said that since he had made his quota for the month, he could give him a great deal on something and then asked what he wanted. He said a Z-28, but the sales rep had never heard of one. So, they pulled out the order guide and built the car. He said that the list price was about $4,050 and he got it for $3,450 from what he remembered (he has the bill of sale in the pile of papers but didn't double check). In the late 70's he was stationed in the UK and then came back to Florida in '83 and the car has been there ever since. The car was always a street car and never raced. It ran when parked 7 years ago, but will get a fresh rebuild during the resto. I'll post more pics and info once I get them, but here is one more shot showing the extremely rare shoulder harness belts.

Thanks again everyone. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Jon, Yes it was according to the owner, but I am not sure if the ones on the car are original or not as I haven't seen the car in person yet or all of the paperwork. Given the options, I think the guy was torn between an SCCA wannabe car and daily driver http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am so jealous. Some of the best times I had in high school were riding around in a Tahoe Turquoise 67 Z. White stripes and black vinyl top. Console, black custom interior. Absolutely gorgeous car. And what a terror on the street.

What a find.

How come as I get older, I appreciate the unrestored cars more and more. I still like a nice, fresh restoration, but cars I uses to think needed restoring I now appreciate for what they are.

Actually, I unexpectedly lost my job earlier this year and panicked a bit and offered the car to a friend during a weak moment. I gave him 3 months to raise the money which ends on Octboer 14th. If he declines, then I am keeping it as things are looking better financially now. Ironically, I just bought another one this week which is the same color but with a black top http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Jonesy, i have had mine know for about 4yrs. and i am still looking for parts and researching it's history. And the 3911 carb is next impossible to find, and cost is crazy. Two years ago i paid 1200 for the carb. And that carb was used only on 67 302, and 396/375hp cars with K-19. So number of cars built with this carb is very low. Roger
