Hi Pacecar the new guy here,,,Have a question and hope you can help...Picked up a air cleaner, appears to be some kind of cowl induction piece..
14.5 inchs wide
2.5 inchs deep
air filter - 14.5 wide
1.5 inch sleeve where the base meets the carb
No snorkle ever - just an oval hole measures about 4.25 inchs wide...
There is some kind of seal around the top of the base..
Does any 1 have any idea what this may have come off. ??
I won't be able be get a pic untill tomorrow or next..
Hope you can help .. Pacecar
Sounds like a Cowl induction air cleaner that someone cut the snorkle snout off of.

Is the oval hole on the top of the air cleaner, and a rubber seal? If so, could be olds, mopar, buick? Roger

Talked to the person that makes the Repro's and he explained that the body dia is 17" and they take a 4" element.........That's all I know.......
Some times a little "Knowledge" can get you into a lot of trouble..........my $.04

Wow ,,thanx for all the replies,, If there ever was a snorkle and some 1 hacked it off ,they did a remarkable job.
It looks very clean like it was a factory job...Its dirty and grimy looks like a well used air cleaner. It,s not mopar or ford,,Doesn't look like any buick I've ever seen.
I do have a dig camera and will take a few pics and post them ..
thanx again guys.. pace car

Thanx 67 GTO , I was beginning to think I picked up some kind of mutant . I don,t believe I have ever seen 1 of these before. Thanks again. pacecar
That thermovac switch gives it away as a later model. Don't think they started using those until about 74.
