Picked up a 69 Nova 396/375 shell over the weekend, upon further inspection it had a Dupree electric fuel pump in the trunk, SW triple gauges in it from way back when, but no other unigue stuff, all original sheetmetal, no orig drivetrain. It is an original 4spd car. obviously a super longshot for a BM car, but you never know. My question, is there anything else to look for (clues)eventhough the drivetrain is gone.? Would like to know before I chop it up. Thanks in advance.SULLY

From what we know, the Novas did not get the stripe option like the camaro's, so no use trying to find black/white paint in the cowl area. I would look for the normal options installed on the various Phase lists, ignition, fuel, suspension, etc.... Other than that, maybe call Joel and see what he's got from a paperwork standpoint? Do you know prior owners, or the original dealer?

Hey Marlin, don't know the originating dealer, it's a NY car it's whole life from what I been told. As soon as I saw the Dupree electric fuel pump in the trunk, I was curious, car also has tow tabs bolted on it. Guy I got it from said he thought it had a 427 for a long time, otherwise it appears to be a very stock L78 car. I know somebody who can run the VIN, we'll see what comes back. Thanks SULLY

Chop it up=Part it out- Unless I find a build sheet or two, which is possible, as the interior has never been touched. Then maybe it will go as a complete car, unless of course it turns out to be Baldwin car, then all hell will break loose (wouldn't that be nice) SULLY

Perhaps we can get someone to post his phone # and then we can all take turns calling him in the middle of the night and raging on him for doing something like that to a L-78 car.

All right, all right you guys are worse than my wife on garbage night. I am going to yank the seats and see if I can find any build sheets and we'll go from there. It has a deluxe bucket, no console interior. SULLY

Are you sure it is a real L78 car? If you chop it up, you just have 69 Nova parts. Leave it together and you have a L78 car. I would say it is worth more as it is.

There was a tired looking 72 Nova here in Tulsa for sale for $2,000 that would make a good start on a street clone. It did have a SS emblem on the grill. black primer. Traction bars.

email me and I will get you the phone #. It did have the factory air doghouse on it still.

Update on the build sheet hunt, back seat 0, doors 0 passenger bucket 0, have the drivers seat and headliner to look through and that should about do it, hope one shows up. lets face it, a build sheet is a must for this particular car since no orig drivetrain is present,I am doing an NICB run on the car,see what that shows. I have the pictures done, will post them shortly. I will keep everybody informed. SULLY

Sully,
Could you describe how to go about running a VIN through the NICB? I thought you had to know a cop or someone on the "inside"???

Thanks,
Verne

Verne, you do have to know somebody, it's not like the old days, new privacy laws killed a lot of the access to available info SULLY
