Indianapolis is hosting its third concours show next Saturday. Both Rayburn Pennington and myself plan to have Motion cars on display. 250 cars are registered so it should be a decent show.
Tom Clary, I heard you might be bringing your DH funny car?
Dan
Yep, that is the plan. Since it is part of the F1 racing weekend, should be a very diverse crowd, with lots of foreign flags, etc. I heard last year over 25,000 folks attended the show.

Very cool. Lets plan to go in together so we can be on the circle in the same spot. We will show 'em some first class muscle!
BTW- please plan on being my guest for dinner at The Rathskeller that evening.
Dan

Pics from the Concours. Dan and Rayburn's car on Monument circle.
The '68 DH Camaro next to the "Famed" ChickenHawk" Studebacker. 8 time NHRA champion.
This what was on the other side of me, Tom McEwen's and his 1967 Ford Super Mustang. Powered by an injected 427.
Other race cars, on the left, a Deusensberg J racer, and the other, a STP Indy Turbine car.
The State Capital as a back drop.

Looks like you guys put on a better show than the race. Michelin http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif FIA http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif
What the crowd was like by mid-afternoon. Estimates were 30,000+. And I think the majority of them wanted to hear the funnycar run. During the show they had me pull it out into street and fire it about every hour or so. Following the show, as I went to load it, I had to fire it two more times for the crowd that had arrived from the track. I found out even F1 fans appreciate the sound of a blown Chevy bigblock. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif
They had a grandstand area setup, complete with live broadcasts on a big screen.
AMC Rebel. Sorry guys, no pic of the hood scoop.

For you Jeff... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif
Lots of classics, from Cords, to Jags, a large display of Stutz cars, MGs, Triumph, Lotus, etc.
A really fun show, with many, many rare and interesting cars. Several of the cars there had won top awards at other prestigous Concours shows, such as Peeble Beach, Meadowbrook and Amelia Island.
And many thanks to Dan for allowing us to dine with him at his resturant Saturday evening, The Rathskeller. The food was outstanding. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Tom & Rayburn,
I really had a great time Saturday. Let's do it again. Rayburn, thanks for looking after my car all day. BTW Rayburn took home a trophy with his incredible car!
Next year, how about a few more of the members here joining in??
