I missed the first 8 minutes with the GT Style Corvette.
I am speechless. Can someone explain the trans in the Camaro?

ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE MANUAL VALVE BODY??

Got to ride shotgun with Dan in his Motion Camaro while in Indy. Even though in traffic most of the way, still a lot of fun.

Dan said he will once agian be bringing a couple of his Motion cars to SCR8, and I would imagine at least one will be for racing. He had hoped to bring his Maco Shark, but said that would have to wait until SCR9.

ALL THAT MEANS IS THAT YOU HAVE TO SHIFT THE TRANS YOURSELF. I HAD A 68 CYCLONE ONCE WITH A MANUAL REVERSE VALVE BODY. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif YOU STARTED IN DRIVE[WHICH WAS REALLY LOW GEAR AND YOU SHIFTED IT DOWN,WHICH WAS REALLY UP! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I got to ride shotgun at SCR6 in both of Dan's cars (GT Vette & Camaro) out the door as he "left the building" (laid down a holeshothttp://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif). And those cars are awesome!

The Camaro has a Hurst Autostick in it to complement the manual valvebody trans. Very cool shifter http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think Red Alert also had a reverse valve body--You shifed 3-2-1--Avoiding accidentally shifting into neutral/reverse---------- Don--On that manual valve body-you sure it's not a bang/shift kit , because when I shift mine manually it's like a power shift in each gear http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
--just for racing mode-----------I missed the show also---GOTTA--tie a string on my finger for Thursday--

-------You are correct, Joe. Red Alert did have a manual valve body and a 5000rpm converter specially designed for it by a guy named Dick Gazan out of the San Dimas area in Cal. Dick had a shop that specialized in Mid-sized "stock" suspension GM cars. Converter got me a tenth or two and his rear suspension got me down in the low 1.40s on the 60. Any who saw it run at its best know that it launched HARD! Also had a trans brake but it never really helped the ET so I rarely used it. Dick sort of disappeared several years ago. I think he had some kind of legal problems. Would like to track him down as he always treated me great...........Bill S

-------JoeG,

-------Red liked to grunt. Used to come out at about 24/2500 and made its power at about 69/7000. Thru the traps at 72/7300 with a 32x13 inch tire. Carried the left front tire about a foot off the ground for about the full first 60ft. During the last years I was racing we were doing mainly match races and exhibition stuff, and the promoters that hired us really didnt care what our ET was. It made for alot of fun passes as everyone just wanted us to twist Red up like a corkscrew and carry the front as far as possible. I could manage that!!!
-------What I am in awe of now days are these ten inch tire guys. They are running 3 inchs less tire with more air pressure than I ever could run and seem to be able to get these cars to stick with more power than I ever had. I guess they have softened up the bottom end a bunch so they can launch............Bill S

I didn't miss it this time, made sure I was in front of the boob tube at 9:30 last night. Congrats to Dan for being asked to appear on "My Classic Car", with all his very rare supercars, the vettes and the second generation Camaro.

The BM PhaseIII Camaro was my favorite of course. I like the history behind the car, especially the part about it being an original white Z28 from the factory, then Joel added the RS option and stuffed the PhaseIII into it, along with many other goodies.

I also enjoyed the commercial on the new show "PinkSlips", when you saw a Chevelle towing a Mustang away down the road, after the Stang lost the race. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Loved the Camaro's burnouts as well and the chirp 2nd-Drive upshifts while passing the camera vehicle.

Hey Joe,

If you happen to miss it...I'll record it onto DVD for you. I have a TV tuner card in my computer...so the computer is already programmed to record all these shows.

Let me know if you need a copy. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I have a full manual T400 with a clutch in mine.
What a wild transmission it is to drive.
Use the clutch in 1st & Rev. only; shift 2nd - 3rd without.
Hits gears like a horse kicked you in the spine.
No torque converter, so full lock in every gear.
Reverse is drilled fo pressure loss internally this way
you can't back over someone. (at 3000 it only goes about 5mph)
Also, no braking in any gear, so you can downshift & not go through the windshield.
