There's plenty to do and you are among Friends. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Thursday:
Is early arrival day and one of the best behind the scenes get acquainted days.

Friday:
Dragracing at Gateway from 9-4ish,(we get there at 8AM to watch them all unload the machines),and either sit & watch in the grandstands or peek inside the trailers to see who's underneath the cars. There is always a Crowd at the Starting line as well.
Then over to the Convention/Hotel center to watch & help all the cars pull in & clean up,while they set up & display.
Always a cold beer somewhere near, with a crowd gathered around anyone of the trailers, for some informal Bench Racing..
Afterwards, head over to the Banquet Hall for Cocktails & Dinner around 7PM,with on going raffle numbers being drawn for door prizes throughout the evening. Then a guest speaker or two,or three to surprise us all.(note:we need a Video Camera to Document these guys)
After all this it's around 10PM & you can check in for the evening,or watch Kim H. show us all what he is really made of,or thinks he is.. http://www.onescience.com/forum/images/drunk_125.gif

Saturday:
Have Breakfast at Host Hotel, and then head over to the outdoor Carshow while entering into the Indoor SuperCar show.Bring your camera & a Note pad,as there is always something you want to remember,or wish you did later.
Cjoes memorabila display alone can take hours to absorb.
Then as the day narrows down, there is a gathering of spectators at the exit to watch the cars pullout & load,as well as the traditional baptising of the Pavement. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

And lastly..where else can a Father reunite with his long lost Son.

.......Musclcar. Don't feel weird about coming to a show where you haven't met anyone. We will have stickers set out for name tags at the show and it is like family. Evenings are warm and there is alot of hanging out in the parking lot with a occasional burnout. Everyone is welcome and bringing or owning a car is not required. You might even get a ride in one over to the drags. If you like these cars, you will have fun.

A small transportation problem exists for those flying in. There is no reasonably priced bus/van service between the St Louis airport and Collinsville. This usually neccessates renting a car, which more than likely will sit, until you return to airport.
Hopefully this forum will serve as a meeting place for those flying in to coordinate some common transportation.....

I will be flying into St. Louis on Thursday, Sept 1st at 6:40pm. Anybody flying in around that time, and need a ride to the host hotel or anywhere in Collinsville, just let me know.

I will be flying into St. Louis as it stands now but as of yet do not have tickets. I would be interested in hitching a ride or participating in paying someones partial rental car fee.

What about the airport train? Doesn't that end somewhat close to Collinsville?

I know that the airport train will get to Busch Stadium. It would then be a taxi ride over. I guess that it depends on how much stuff you have packed.

I know that it goes into Illinois... My wife & brothers have taken it... did they stop that?

Did anyone bother to check rental car rates ? Probably pretty cheap for weekend rates.

They've gone up considerably around the St.Louis area recently.
It seems a few customers have taken it upon themselves to relive their youth,by Red Lighting the rental cars at the local Dragstrip.
Hertz,Avis & others are banning together and taking precautionary measures to see this never happens again.
They now only rent to customers with Shoelaces..

Talked to the Holiday Inn...they said your best bet from the airport to the hotel would be a taxi, somewhere in the $20-$50 range (some range!)...

I am paying $15.99/day for my Hertz car rental. (unlimited mileage)

came up with the same thing cheaper to get a car than taxi two ways... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Well I would think 15.99 per day solves the transportation dilema.
