I'm looking for an original Barrel nut for a Big Block starter heat shield. If you have one or know of someone who has one for sale I will pay $200.00 for one.
Thanks very much.

Ken,
Paragon Corvette has them for $5.00 under the part number 2022. I have bought them before and believe they are exact copies. heat shield retainer nut (http://www.corvette-paragon.com/catalog/Default.aspx)
Save your $200, buy me a beer and send me your LS-6 infor to the LS-6 Registry. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Speaking of BB heat shields, tell me if one would help eliminate my problem..............
My 69 Camaro BB has Hooker Comp Headers that run close to the starter. When starter gets hot and engine is shut off....(for gas station stop as example) it will not restart.....until say 5 minute cool down....
I havent looked to see if a heatshield would fit??? Can someone with experience answer if a heatshiled would help this situation??

Don't know if the heat shield would work. You could wrap your headers with heat wrap. I had the same problem with my car. I installed a mini starter and it works fine now.

The heat shield will work well and should fit. You can also wire in a F### solenoid around the GM one and that will also help. Heat builds up in the GM solenoid and creats too much resistence so that there is not enough voltage to pull in the solenoid.
I've got an NOS one labeled #3943648 somewhere.

I heard from a guy that used to work at Chev dealer, years ago......said there was a G.M. fix for this hot start problem. Something about cutting/shortening solenoid spring, there by weakening it.....does this tie in with above suggestion??
