Is the water pump casting number the same for 1970 L78 and LS6 motors?
What would be the correct water pump casting number for a January 1970 L78 Camaro?
Thanks in advance for your help, you guys have ALL the knowledge...

3931065 casting # for your L78 Sam, including LS6 Chevelles. Late L78's and LS6's also used 3969811.

Thanks Tony,
Was the 3969811 only used on 1971 models?

I believe 3969811 was used from late 1970-72.

Thanks for the info. I better find a 3931065 with a date code of late Dec 1969.

The 69 SS396 Camaros also received the 3931065 water pump, which carried over to early built L78's.

By the way Sam, what is the build date of your car, and the assembly date of the L78? I will keep my eyes open for you.
Sam
The 1970 L-78 & LS-6 used the #811 Waterpump regardless of Car it was installed in,not the #065.
#065 was used for engines before the 1970 release,Maybe,Maybe Aug.-Sept. 69 built cars got them,at least from my findings.
Your not going to find an #065 dated Dec.69,they stopped making them around May 69??
I have an #811 here I took off an LS-6,dated L 69.

Hmmmm, just to make sure and to double check the casting numbers on the 70 L78's, I just went back to both of my reference books, including Colvins, and it states that the early 70 BB's used the 065's.

Tony, Car is an 01C, and the L78 CKO engine was assembled in Tonawanda Dec 19 (T1219CKO)

A November casting date would also work.
I think Alan has since revised that statement.
It was discussed on one of the Websites in the Winter, and no one was able to find one dated Past early 1969.
I would guess that they did use up #065's inventory on the later 69,early 70 BB vehicles,as they ALL used that design pump.
My Oct.69 built L-78 Chevelle & all the ones I have complied a database from had #811's,as well as the LS-6's I could document as original equipment.
The pump I mentioned earlier I have is Dated Dec.17,1969.
