A friend sent me this photo and asked if this looked legit? Beyond 66 and 67 SS Chevelles.. I know little about what looks right... anyone know what a 71 LT1 deck stamp should look like, if it is even that?
I'm no Bloomington Judge,but I like it.
Does he need a Holley for this August 70 330HP Corvette?

Rick,
Trying to get smarter here. I have a pretty good resolution monitor to view this picture. I can not make out broaching in this picture. Did broaching smooth out for 1971? The 69 and 70 GM BB's I have seen with what I believe to be legit stampings on engine stamp pads have more distinct broaching. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Thanks,

Looks like corrosion may have had its way with it.

It almost looks like it was decked(looks like you can see marks at an angle from the circular cutter) and then started to rust over the decked area. It's probably my eyes going bad, but it looks like I can see the top part of a "2" after the "Z". You'd really have to examine that closely in person to tell if the pad was decked or not.

Pull the head and take a look if possible. You should see it then.

Nothing looks out of place on the stamping. It looks legit. Years of corrosion (mentioned) and tons of paint have clouded the surface.
I have seen a lot worse then that on original stampings.
Lack of visual broach marks with all that crap on the pad is non-issue.
