I have just replaced the a/c compressor in my Z11 for the forth time. Each one seems to seep oil from the front clutch seal and leave an annoying mist pattern on the fenderwell and the hood insulation. Do they all do this? I have replaced 2 rebuilt units, then a brand-new GM AC-Delco unit, now an AC-Delco remanufactered unit. The worst of the bunch was the brand new one. The system is running R12 (very expensive stuff these days) and all the pressures are within spec. The evacuated system will hold vaccuum for hours: there are no leaks anywhere. Has anyone else run into this problem or am I just too finicky??? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Had the same problem with my 69 Chevelle ragtop with air...the damm thing never stopped leaking. Relaced it three times...new, reman, used all with the same reslults. No more problems now...sold the car!.

Must be a convertible with a/c thing. Maybe God didn't mean for ragtops to have a/c and this is some sort of Divine punishment???

Steve, I have a customer with a 67 corvette (Also a convertable) that has had the original compressor rebuilt 2 times by the place in Fla. and it still leaks, he put a new one on there after judging and it works fine. My thoughts are the shaft was worn and the shop just didn't catch it. Rich.

Wow, guess I won't bother replacing mine, because it does the exact same thing. Holds vacuum for days, but has a nice oil line on the inner fender, and insulation.
