I am posting this for a friend. Does this look like a correct 396/325hp with auto trans air cleaner?? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

no. Thats for a 325hp 396 chevelle. A 69 Camaro SS, even the base 325hp version, used a chrome open element air cleaner, or a cowl induction one if the ZL2 option was ordered. The air cleaner you have there looks pretty nice...hard to find in that condition... and they don't reproduce it.

Whats the difference?? Did the Camaro not have a closed type non cowl air cleaner??

On the SS350 yes, on the SS396, no.

Thats what i thought. My GM Air Cleaner chart says that there is only an open element type 6423907 or Cowl Induction type 6485891 for the Camaro 396 with 4bbl

The SS350 has 3 different ones according to my book. Cowl Induction, and closed type with snorkel-auto trans, and closed type with manual trans. Right?

There's a 4th: the cowl induction w/ auto trans. It has the heat riser valve on the snorkel; The man trans air cleaner does not.
