Not mine, don't know anything about it, just stumbled over it on a routine search, thought I'd post it here in case anyone might be interested.

I hope someone buys it to restore, it would be a shame to see it get parted out.

Nice car and description. I would like to see a better pic of the engine stamping without the head gasket covering the adjacent area.

This LS6 has alot of potential, and I hope it will be saved and preserved. Great description of the car and what parts he does have for a restoration. Even though it sounds like it is a matching #'s LS6, I would definately look it over in person before I bid on it.
Too bad the block has been decked some. The seller sounds like he is half-way honest, which is refreshing now days.

This is the only part of the car's description I didn't like.

"Protect-O-Plate long gone but I have a blank NOS (not repro) plate and NOS tape for it. You'll have to get it stamped."

tony, i do not have a problem with a reproduction pop for a real documented car. Documenting a fake car with a reproduction pop is NOT OK, is my opinion. Roger

I understand what you are saying, and respect your opinion. Wether it is a documented car or not, I think it is unethical to restamp POP's and cowl-tags, just not my thing.

When he states that he has a reproduction POP that can be stamped, then I think it gives people who are not well educated in the musclecar hobby the impression that it is ok to restamp tags, POP's.

This is one of those instances where critical opinion is good...block stamp, build sheet etc..

Very http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Project that I hope it rings the bell.
Just a pet peeve of mine,is the phrase "Stripe delete".
This would bring one to think it was originally built with them.
How can you delete something that it never had in the first place. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
If anyone is interested,I am available to go look at this Chevelle for them.

Hmmmmm...........Anyone know if GM changed the block stamp fonts for 1970, as compared to original 1968 & 1969 fonts??

Just curious as they differ from 2 of my original blocks.

Thanks, Rick

That VIN stamp on his engine & trans looks typical in size & location for Kansas Leeds plant.
They were unique.

Have seen some very nice finished LS-6 cars for $50K range recently. You'd be closer to $100K in that one once you were done if restored correctly.

Mike, you've got to come down south where we don't have all those salt problems and the city slickers bidding them up. Seriously, I have seen 3 nice #2 LS-6 cars in the last 6 months that were in the $50-$55K range. 2 were autos, one was a 4 speed and all had buildsheets.

COPO, You need to start buying these cars and selling them to me..Id buy every #2 Condition LS6 out there for $50k to $55k and smile the whole way to the bank.. I havent seen a nice one sell for under 85k in the past 2 months..The last couple of nice ones that I know both bought just over 100k.

I did a quick ebay search, and as a close example found a matching #, 4 speed car with 2 buildsheets, older 90's concours frame-off resto sold at $65K. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet...bayphotohosting (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Chevelle-1970-<b><i>Chevelle</i></b>-SS-454-LS6_W0QQitemZ4564642309QQcategoryZ6164QQrdZ1QQcmdZ ViewItem#ebayphotohosting)

Here is another one, older resto LS-6, 4-speed car sold for $45K on EBAY in June. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...p;category=6164 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4556217690&catego ry=6164)

These 2 examples are from EBAY for cars that were available to the masses. The point is there are deals out there if you look around, are patient, and purchase from a private party. The LS-6 cars are relatively plentiful and every nice LS-6 coupe has not been selling for $100K+ though certainly some apparently have.

last one: Here's a fresh resto, matching #'s w/buildsheet sold on this site for low $70's one week ago. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/162209/an/0/page/2#162209

A guy I know in the Twin Cities bought that car instantly for the 65k..He stole that car!! anyways it is in Wisconsin now and he sold it right away for 97k. And that was an older resto..

Yours must have been built when the printers were broken because most of them now have them flying out of every crevice of the interior and front sheet metal when you open the windows !! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif J/K all you LS 6 dudes.

Ancient thread but my reply is legit as i am the one that purchased the car in 2005.
Have some great photos and documentation of the resto that is underway if anyone is interested.

If starting a new thread on this else where is the right thing to do iI would need some guidance on this.

Thanks,
Ian

I had to chuckle at the 6000 remaining of the 4257 built! Kinda reminds me of the hundreds of LS-6 Conv. sticks of the supposed 16 or 19 built. And one better is the overwhelming supply of &quot;REAL&quot; '70 W-30 Conv. sticks----way more than the general ever thought of producing.
