Bud,
If anybody knows how to identify those, it would be the Vette guys. An inquiry through NCRS might lead to a technical article on them, or you could try contacting Fred Oliva in FL. He rebuilds them and has a very good knowledge of which one is which.

Good luck http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thnx Guys

Rick what I need to know is what number I need for the 67 RS/SS 350 car with A/C *non smog car...

I still have a headache from going through the whole fan thing and the 5 rivit pattern and placement and the look to the fan, hopefully I have it here and can pass along the others I dont need, I talked to all the top dogs across the country last year and no two guys said the same thing, DOH!! so I have some 5 rivit fans here from e bay to look over

I need to clean some of these others up and see what markings they have

but one I have from the rat house that looks like a pretty new take-off that is real clean and I think I recall the 69 guys talking about 772 fans and thats what this one is with a inked Eaton and J3J on the clutch....

Bud, not to add fuel to the fire but the clutches have ink stamped dates and some have month and Year stamped on the flange. Do yours have any of these?? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I know this is not your year, but my 70 Z28 original fan clutch has Eaton CV K1J it's a 04B car. Have no idea what K1J stands for or how to decode it.

What would be the correct clutch for a 1970 Camaro SS-L78 and would the date be prior to
the engine build or the car. The engine in my L78 was built over 6 months before the car.
This whole date code matching when doing a restoration is tricky. I would love to see an
Original Survivor 70 Camaro SS L78 so we could document a lot of unanswered questions.

I would use the Cars overall cowl tag build date as the reference point, not the engine Tona date.
Yours used Fan Clutch Part#3946050,same as the 1969 L-78 Camaro and Fan Blade #3947772.

I gave you misinformation earlier.
You should have Fan Blade #3789562 18" diameter 5 blades 4 bolt circle.
Sorry.

Hey Rick,

Any idea what the correct fan and clutch assembly should be for a '68 L79 Chevy II Nova with A/C, its a mid-June '68 car? Sorry Bud for jumping in on your thread, we were on the subject so I had to ask.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm starting to get the same headache Bud had...Whats the significance of a "W" stamped on the fan blade? I've recently looked a couple of 5 blade fans that were on ebay. Each had a "W" with no visible part numbers. Where are the part numbers stamped on the fan and the clutch? Should they be visible?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike
