View Full Version : 1970 Chevelle SS 396 Documented #'s Matching
1970 Chevelle SS 396. Correct Astro Blue paint with white stripes, black bucket seats with console. Numbers matching drive train and fully documented with POP, build sheet, previous titles and complete owner history. Car has spent it's entire life in Texas. All original body panels and floors. Completely rust free. The paint and body are absolutely stunning. Undercarriage is nicely detailed. New 3" exhaust with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. Car has not seen rain in 7 years. The 396 (402) was rebuilt a year ago. Has original heads, TH400, 3:31 12 bolt posi, Q-Jet, SS wheels, distributor, alternator, water pump, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, etc. Originally equipped with automatic and A/C. The previous owner spent quite a few thousand dollars having some changes made to match his personal preferences. The A/C was removed (under dash unit, all vents and duct work are still in place) and an M21 was installed. An Eldebrock intake has been installed as well as headers. All work was professionally and correctly done and shows no sign of being cut up. The goal of the previous owner was to have the car appear, under the hood to be a factory 4 speed non-A/C car. All original parts removed go with the car. Car runs and drives beautifully. This is one of the nicest Chevelles you will find.....anywhere. Pictures do not do the car justice. I have other pictures if interested and will have undercarriage pictures later this week. If you have any questions or need pictures of specific areas send me an email, PM or call me at 713-705-2491.

Nice looking car... I think Astro Blue is one of my favorite 70 colors... woulda been cool if they offered the Deuces in it.
Can you post a close up pic of the buildsheet here?
Among other things,I'm curious to know if the hood/deck stripes,(RPO D-88),were customer requested,or if they were added later on after delivery along with the hood pins.
Thanks http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Too bad GM didn't make the ZL2 flapper and gauge pkg std equipment.

Just curious, what heater controls are in the car now, the one for a/c or one for heater only. How does that work, or does it? Just wondering how all that worked out with non a/c outside and a/c under dash? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
When the tranny was swapped, did they install the reverse lock out and was the car originally column shift or console?
Thanks,

Beautiful car. I'm just wondering: How can it be a numbers matching drivetrain if it was originally a TH400 car? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

"All original parts removed go with the car."
As you can see the build sheet dose not photograph very well but it is readable in person.
Bill, all the original A/C heater controls are in place and the heater works just like it should. All the under dash A/C working, duct work, vents, everything are in place just like they wear when the car had A/C. Also, a "Magic Box" brand heater box was installed. When the Tranny was swapped the reverse lock was setup just as if it had come from the factory with a 4 speed. Car must be in reverse to remove the key. The car was originally a console floor shift automatic.
"Beautiful car. I'm just wondering: How can it be a numbers matching drivetrain if it was originally a TH400 car?" See Paceme
Every original and numbers matching part removed from this car was kept and goes with the car. From the original TH400 to the original A/C brackets...everything. Also, the 3:31 gear is correct for this car but the posi was added by a previous owner.
I will entertain any reasonable offer on the car
Thanks
