Hello!! I was searching around the web and found this site.I've noticed that some of you have an interest in older drag racers. Well.. I personally know both Ernie and Barry Musser.I have worked with both bros, but with Barry mostly.Barry had some cool stories about the past. Both of them are now retired and are doing well. Both can be found strolling around Maple Grove Raceway in Reading,Pa. I saw someone may have their vette here.I can try to get some info for you guys, but I don't get to see them that often since they retired. Heres a short story on them: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa4078/is_200303/ai_n9167186 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Welcome.

"When the new Camaros reached Chevrolet showroom floors in late 1966, the Mussers parked their Corvette in favor of one of the new muscle cars. They chose a model that had a single-four-barrel-carbureted, 302-cid engine and a cowl induction hood for SS/E competition. The following year, they ran a '68 Camaro with the same package, then switched to a 427-cid, 425-- horsepower SS/E '69 Camaro the next season."

I think the vette went to Carmen Rotunda but don't know where else. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

Does anyone know what happened to the '69 Camaro and Chevelle? I'd also like to know what dealership the cars came from and were they COPO's?

Not sure about the Chevelle, but the Camaro looks to have been an SS396...although it does have a cowl hood...which would be pretty rare on an SS car unless it was added, which is also quite possible. Both the Camaro and Chevelle were sponsored by Bob Fisher in Reading, so I would guess thats where they were sold from, but not positive...I do know they both rocked. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Chevelle... no SS rear panel emblem in this pic... COPO, or just a missing emblem? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Neat pics, Joe...never seen those before. I've only seen pics from the side of both cars. Looks like Chevelle's color was changed sometime between your and my pictures. I've got a color pic of the Camaro and in the picture it looks tan or possibly Butternut Yellow.

I'll try to find out if the cars were COPO's for you guys. Don't hold your breath for an answer anytime soon...I don't get to talk to Barry or Ernie that much since they retired.I'll try to see if I can get his phone number or something to ask him. The funny thing about the Bros. (especially Barry) a lot of guys we worked with has no idea that the guys even raced. They were never braggers. Barry would only talk to me about it if I asked or pry the info out of him. Both of them are really good, friendly guys with a twisted sense of humor!!

66supersport,
If you don't mind, when you talk to them, could you ask them if they ever had any connection with a '61 Belair race car? I have this old Belair that has an outline on the door that looks pretty much like the Fisher "fish". It was originally Jewel Blue, then painted white with all sorts of gold, red and brown stripes and panels. The car was owned by someone in the Philly area for awhile. Sorry, no pics to post.
Thanks

I've never heard about them having a Belair, but anything is possible. Maybe Fishers sponsored someone else? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif I'll try to find out ASAP, but it might take alittle while...

I spoke to Ernie about 2 months ago and he said he was looking for them also, but they have no leads.

Wow that would be cool. I used to work on the Musser's farm on Christmas vacation loading Christmas trees onto semi trailers. Was the largest Christmas tree farm in America back then. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
