Since we have a whole bunch of pack racks on this website (which is a good thing ) I was wondering if anyone has been hoarding some good old Live Music cds or cassettes. I am particularly looking for any Allman Brothers Band, Doors, or Led Zeppelin I can get my hands on. If trading is your thing, let me know! I have a lot of Live Music and would LOVE to share. After being around for a couple years now, music is the only soul of the 60s and 70s that is seldom spoken of.
Remember guys... Keep your eyes on the road, and your hands up-on the wheel.

I have the original vinyl records of the bands you mentioned.
No bootlegs. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Most of them sounded awful. Portable recording equipment back then was primative at best. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Growing up in Macon, during the ABB hayday, I love em too. I even have a copy of Dwayne's wreck report from the MPD. I will look and see about the vinyl, not sure what I got or where it is packed away.

I think I have almost every Allman bros album but I'm not parting with them. I actually wore out the Live at Fillmore East double album and had to buy another. Later bought it on CD. I managed to see them at the Fillmore west before Duane died.

Anyone who is an Allman Bros. fan should read a book called,"Midnight Rider". It is a very close account to how things really were, the good and the bad. Gregg, Butch, and the others were livid when it came out.
An interesting bit of trivia, guess how much the insurance company (company truck involved in wreck)paid Dwayne's estate for his death?
Remember this was 1970. The company truck btw was Sam Hall Construction, they are still in business today.
The grand sum of $21,000
His Harley sportser sat at the local Harley shop for years and was robbed of parts until they threw it away.

I ached for the music from the past recently.
I was ecstatic to find a Box full of 8TK tapes at a swapmeet recently. The good stuff like CCR,3DN,BTO & Especially ABB.This may just be me,but their music sounds more authentic to me on the 8TK tape format, then on the current released and cleaned up CDS.

Oh Yes Rick... All cds are digitally remastered. Computers do everything these days.
The ABB have these new releases called Instant Live CDs. They are quite costly but you can get any show from the recent tour. Anyone look into these?

Since it's music and your car is Mosport Green, all I can offer you is an old record called 'The Sounds of Mosport'. . It's a 60's live recording of cars racing at the Mosport track. . Also Music and Mosport related, you may be able to come up w/ some live recordings of Woodstock style music festivals at Mosport like 'Strawberry Fields' 1970? Canada Jam 77? . Good luck!

There is another thread about xm here now. I have found it to be the best mix of music yet. I always have mine tuned to channel 7 which is the 70's music. They have enough varity that you hardly ever hear the same tune twice in a week. Of course the more seasoned members might get into the 50's, 60's or even 40's stuff. you yuoungs can have the 80's and 90's.LOL
Dan, I bought the live cd at the last ABB concert in Knoxville. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. Could have been the venue, but nothing like "An Evening with the ABB" which was recorded live in Macon in 90 or 91. I was there all three or four nights, getting old, can not remember just how many it took to get it right. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Quick story, I was working security at the back door one of the nights. A police got into a arguement with a guy in a 74 Ford panel van. I walked over to see what the deal was. The cop said, "Oh, it's nothing, just some damn hippy trying to park back here." I look in the van, and it is Warren H. The concert is waiting on him to start, he is stoned, and the cop is making him back out of the parking lot. Thank goodness I knew who he was..... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Since ya'll have mentioned most of the Southern rock bands, I thought I would through out a couple more: Charlie Daniels, Wet Willie, 38 Special and Elvin Bishop. All the talk about the Allman Bros and no one has mentioned Dickey Betts yet!!!
One of the best songs Dwayne Allman did was on his Anthology album, "Happily Married Man". "Ain't seen my wife in two or three years. I'm a happily married man"

Back in the 70's Bruce Springsteen use to play in this little dump down the street called "Le Garage" before he was famous, Also remember John Bon Jovi and others hanging out at garden State music before he hit the big time, I was in his first video at Seaside park. George Thorogood also played locally at a place called Joe Pops. Actually many famous musicians played at Pops, anyone here ever go to the place in Ship Bottom on LBI? Can't pass up an opportunity for old time sake to mention that when Tommy Bolin was just a youngster in the business back in Sioux City, IA he was in a band at the time (Patch of Blue) that was using the same booking agency as the group I was with. Didn't really know him but would see him often in passing. Just knew he was a very good guitarist for his age. Didn't know how big he would (or could have) become. He could have gone on to be a really big name if he hadn't lived life so carelessly.
Check out the 2005 Music Festival recently held as a tribute to him. This was held in Sioux City, IA. Check out some of the attendees. Also see they're grooming another guitarist in the family!

I know you guys won't believe this being as most of this music came along before I did, but you guys are practically listing my collection! For no older than I am, I play a pretty mean game of name that tune... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif
I think what intrigues me most is how one artist or band ties into another and takes you somewhere else in the musical scheme of things...like Clapton...he did Cream, and then Blind Faith with Winwood, which takes you to Traffic or Winwood's solo stuff...then Derik & the Dominos he did with Duane Allman, which takes you somewhere else...then he was with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, in which John Mcvie played bass, and of course was in Fleetwood Mac...and he was in the Yardbirds with Beck and Page, who open up entire musical chapters of their own...and Clapton even did the solo on my favorite Beatles' tune "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", and those chaps knew their music...that's the kind of stuff I eat up. I mean, look at who/what all Clapton has influenced! Musical genius...

Superb taste in music.
I've been playing guitar 25+ years, and I cut my teeth on SRV. I had the priveledge of seeing him twice live before his untimely passing...words can not describe the talent that man had. It wasn't just music eminating from his guitar & amp, it was his very soul pouring out.
I still get chills whenever I hear "Riviera Paradise", "Life By The Drop", "Voodoo Child", and most of all, "Little Wing." On Little Wing, if you have your stereo cranked up to about 14 ( http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif ), you can hear the faint buzzing of his tube amp in the background.

Its a Cherryburst Classic and has tone like a LP should. I got it for a graduation gift, and have played it maybe a half dozen times. My dad bought me a brand new black '83 Strat when I was 8 years old that I still have today. I used to be pretty serious about learning to play when I was younger, but now I just jam around once in awhile for kicks. I bought Don Yenko's '69 Twin Reverb amp at SCR1, which will still rattle the windows and annoy the neighbors at will. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

For pure sound I use my Blond 70's Gibson Les Paul Deluxe the sound is incredible and for leads and fun I use a 60's Fender Strat. The Strats are so much lighter than the Les Pauls and are a ton of fun. I also have a couple old Fender Twin Reverbs, Some Marshall Stacks, and lots of Crates. I also have about 50 old effects boxes, remember the good ol MXR distortions? I still use them and I hear there worth a few bucks now. The new programable boxes are pretty cool as you can create any sound you want...

After 10 or 12 songs everybody is getting hammered http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I used to have a black / gold Les Paul, 1965 vintage. Traded it straight across for a 1948 Dodge pickup. If anybody has an old beater LP from the 60's I'm interested, I think I will start plinkin around again in my old age..
Bob, here's the best TYA album http://www.alvinlee.com/discography/Ssssh.jpg
Best song was "Goin' Home" played live at Woodstock..
How about Johhny Winter? "Good morning little school girl"

I have been riding now for two days, and almost to Vegas. I thought about this thread when I looked thru the CD's and pulled out another all time favorite. "The best of the Guess Who". Who hear over 45 has not had at least a couple "good times" while listening to the Guess Who? LOL
Makes me want to hunt up a couple phone numbers of some old high school cheerleaders.......

Nice digs here at your hotel!!! I told them I was you, they said they did not expect me so soon, but that it was fine to be a bit early, and they had all the credit info, so make myself at home. See you when you get here. Just knock. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Hey Mosport, since you started this thread with a request for "bootleg" recordings, after much research I found this bootleg video of Charlie, stolen from his local Stop and Rob. The audio was awful, so it was redubbed.

Let us not forget Jeff Healey in this list. Awesome licks.
I've managed to hang on to an ES 335 through the years. Need to dust it off, now, and tune it up.

George Thorogood also played locally at a place called Joe Pops. Actually many famous musicians played at Pops, anyone here ever go to the place in Ship Bottom on LBI?
[/ QUOTE ] Heck yeah Sam, I vacation with friends for a week in LBI every year. We usually make a stop in Joe Pops, the Quarterdeck, and Buckalews. LBI has one of the most beautiful and relaxing beaches in the US, it's certainly not the "dirty Jersey shore" that so many people seem to think it is for whatever reason. All of South Jersey is beautiful IMO. It's just really been getting tough to find affordable rental properties on LBI the last few years. Got any cheap rental units ya wanna hook me up with for a week next July? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif
Oh...and BTW, anyone who likes the classic southern rock sound but may want to try something new, I suggest you give a listen to a band from Kentucky called "My Morning Jacket." They're sort of a cross between Skynyrd, the Allmans, and maybe a little swirl of Floyd with a hint of Jackson Browne...hard to compare to anyone else, they're truly a unique sound with an outstanding front man named Jim James. They're the best newer band out there if you ask me. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

What have you been paying and which town? Let me know and I might be able to hook you up..Anything ocean front on the north end is 15 grand a week on up, south end is a lot cheaper. We built a house for a guy who is getting 50 grand a week, not to shabby, and he is booked solid..

There's usually about 8-10 of us and we like to stick towards the middle of the island but we're not terribly picky. This past summer we got a place in Brandt Beach across from the Custard Hut right on the boulevard that comfortably slept 8 and we paid $1600 for the last week of July. I'd prefer being on the beach side but walking 2 blocks was worth the savings. I'm looking for anything in that $15-1700 range for a week in July '06. Let me know if you can help.

Yep, some very good stuff.
The quality is fair but enjoyable to say the least.
I have done some digging around and have a couple sites too.
...will post them later today.
Thanks.
