I just sent an M 21 from Ga. to Ia. via UPS & they dropped it & broke it http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Looking for an M 21 that's ready to go & is 'show' condition for an 03B '69 Camaro. Thanks

I don't know if this will help - i have an M-22 that is a 660 case - no VIN or date stamp. I live in Iowa. Just a thought - beautiful condition.

Mike, you have a PM.
Unbelievably, UPS is attempting to dispute the fact that somebody in their organization dropped this puppy. In fact, it was dropped hard enough to break an ear off as well as damage the shaft...looks like it fell off a conveyor 10 feet high http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

good luck Jude...UPS tried to destroy my tunnel ram carbs this last winter same deal looked like they threw the box from off the top of the truck then ran over it twice to make sure it was good and mangled then delivered it..took like 30 pics had a UPS guy come by and inspect that it was packed properly..went round and round with them and they said sorry we did nothing wrong no claim end of story!! only way to take it higher was to sue them..MF's!! I say we go over to Bobbys and sock him... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So far they've only offered $100 saying it was packed improperly- but one of their guys packed it!. Also said the shipper (my mechanic) should have insured it for what it was worth. Why do these company's expect us to pay extra to insure items for loss or breakage when it's do to their carelessness & neglect? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif Hell, it's not like the tranny came alive & jumped off the conveyor on it own.

How much was it insured for??? When ever I ship a trans I insure it for what it cost to replace it... If you didn't add extra insurence, UPS insures the first $100.00 and you have to add the extra... I sold a trans to a guy in Tenn. for $300.00 and UPS dropped it and broke a cast iron ear off the main case,,, UPS payed the $300.00,,, but I insured it for $300.00... If you still need a trans, E-mail me at

I deal with UPS on these matters continually. If you did not insure it, that is the end of any recourse save the minimun coverage offered (I think it's $75 or $100). You will just have to take out your frustrations best possible, and move on.

Although it would be a tough battle; I think you could hang them with the packed by UPS, but the no insurance will void that angle for the several hundred you have now lost.

"Packaged Improperly" has been UPS's excuse forever. VERY hard to get around it in a damage situation.

The answer is not to use UPS anymore. I found out that Fed Ex was 1/2 the price of the brown truck. It is unfortunate that you had something as tough as a tranny got damaged. Man they must have dropped it out of the plane or something.
