I just caught a glimpse of this one at Volo:
'70 L-78 "Yenko" restification. (http://www.volocars.com/showroom/showroom_d.php?id=11755&nhs=0&make=camaro&show=)
It's a very cool "What if". http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
They're claiming that it's one of the original 600 L-78's also. Has anyone seen it up close?

SEEMS UNLIKELY THAT THIS TRUE, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW..IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO BUILD A CAR OF THIS TYPE FOR 40K NOT COUNTING THE ORIGINAL MOTOR. DOCUMENTED L78'S ARE RARE AND THIS WOULD BE A GOOD DEAL IF EVERYTHING LINES UP.

Its a very nice car built by a fellow called Sixtiesmuscle ! Those stripes look great on a 70. I think I even drove it. Volo also has a supposed documented 70 L78 there...

The car being discussed is one of the 600 L78 Camaros, Real Build sheet documented car and an excellent value, IMO.

That car actually looks better than I thought it would. Shame Yenko didn't do big block cars in 1970. Love the blue interior!

I bought THAT car from an ad in Hemmings Motor News in 1999 as a project. Car was to have come with ORIGINAL, CKO coded, VIN stamped born with block and born with trans. Was delivered to Seattle with RESTAMPED (Deck) Block and restamped VIN.
Transmission wasnt even correct M-21 Casting # and was restamped poorly over the top of obliterated original #. After getting the mediator at Hemmings involved seller (Ray Z in St Louis area) took car back at my shipping expense.
Obviously VOLO "found" the correct block, not the restamped one I saw.
Car is real L.A. L-78 with Build sheet.

I've been reminded of another part of my above transaction in buying and returning the BLUE L-78. I wanted 100% of my money returned, on the car project, including SHIPPING.
Ray Z sent me cashiers check for amount of car purchase, and paid for return shipping. I kept the dual snorkel air cleaner, as colleteral until I received MY refunded shipping money. I never received shipping money, and still have air cleaner.

So what are you trying to say??? Will you return the original air cleaner to the current owner if he pays the shipping costs due you?

That's a pretty interesting update/twist Chuck. Thanks for chiming in.
As per Stefano's question....interesting also. I didn't think about it from that perspective. That piece is worth some coin now. Brilliant idea to keep it as collateral Chuck.
Heh...Volo could probably use it for the yellow L-78 that they're still trying to sell.
Did anyone ever figure out what the deal was w/ the cowl-plenum air cleaner they have on that yellow one now? I have pics of the yellow one w/ the "new" cowl air cleaner and also w/ an open element piece.

What was the cost of the shipping...I might be interested http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The "right" Dual Snorkle for a 70 L78 would probably be worth more than original cost of shipping the car..I smell a bidding war!
