Anybody know anything of a guy named Peter Fujarcik around the Island Heights area in the '60s and '70s? He had a Nassau Blue '62 409 Sport Coupe. He turned 17 in 1962. (He's no longer with us). Had a younger sister, Lisa. Looking for any history I can find about the car.
Thanks
Verne

Verne, how about posting the photos of how you found that car languishing in a garage. I loved seeing them awhile back on one of the other early Chevy sites and would love to see them again. Seeing the car might jog somebody's memory. I'd also like to see your '61 ex-drag car!

Sam,
As I recall, I think he did have a very strange nickname, but I forget it right now. I may have it on a taped conversation with one of his high school friends who lives in Jersey City. His parents lived in West Orange, and that's where he was with the car when new, before moving into the Island Heights home. That home was the family's "shore house", so he was down there quite often in the early years. For those early years he painted the wheels blue and ran baby moons.

OK, I tried, but it didn't work. Here's a link to a friend's site where he has some photos of the car. Maybe this will work.

Those are just on there as rollers. The E-T wheels on the front had flat tires that wouldn't inflate. I'm going to leave the E-Ts on it with blackwalls. Day-2 car for sure! By the way, the chrome wheels are RPO factory optional '64 14x6s
I was fortunate enough to meet Verne and see this pretty 409 --Super guy--Very http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif car----He wouldn't let me see the car until I swore allegence to some 409 god ----- http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Verne how was the paint when you dragged it out ??? You really don't need those 2 chrome 64 wheels do you ?

The paint was in the same condition as you see it cleaned up - it was just dirty. He had it repainted in the mid '70s, but those documents were "lost" from the pile I got with the car. He evidently had a little front end encounter which induced the repaint. The right fender has a '69 date on it, and the headlight bucket and associated trim was replaced. I'm still trying to track down where he had it done. It's laquer, and with clear on it, which nobody was doing in the '70s unless they wanted a "special" nice job! That fell into the custom category back then, before anybody even heard of base coat/clear coat. The blue is perfect, but the clear has a lot of dirt if it - I swear, some of it looks like pubic hairs! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif. A 1500 grit hair cut is all it needs, then a good polishing, and it will be absolutely stunning. Every single piece of trim on the car is better than you'd expect an NOS one to look fresh out of the wrapper. Most of the nooks and crannys are filled with wax build-up. This car was not driven in bad weather and was given an artist's care. That's what he was, very fanatical, and this car was his treasured piece of rolling art.
And I have all 4 of those mounted '64 14x6s, and NO they are not for sale. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif You need to find a set of 14x6 steels (with the safety bead) and get them in Daytona Blue with those NOS scab caps. I have a hunch you have 3 original wheels on that car, and you don't want to believe it.....
Joe, thank you very much for the kind words, but my recollection is a little different. I thought you had to suffer through looking at that car before I showed you the Model 94 that you were really interested in seeing............ http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
