View Full Version : 178mph Enzo wreck in Italy...
Anybody else following that bizarre story? The facts are few and far between so the speculation is running wild. Most of the alleged facts I've seen are on some Ferrari chat forum or whatever it's called. Apparently this wreck happened at night (the pictures are taken in daylight) and did not involve another vehicle. The car is torn completely in half which is leading to much criticism of Ferrari. I bet that thing summer-salted and flipped a good number of times... driver dead on impact?
You would think these Sun. AM QBs think a car designed to go fast should also be designed to crash at high speeds. I guess the laws of physics cease to exist if you pay enough for a car.
And what's this silly crap about dying while you're having fun. Hell, I want to die when the fun stops!!

Sad situation for whoever's involved but is there any possibility it was Michael Schumacher driving this piece? . I just don't understand how he doesn't seem to have enough sportsmanship in him to finally retire and go race World Sportscar or something else....at least it would let others have a small chance at total wins someday? . Speaking of the 427 Z06, it is just a matter of time before we read a similar story about one of those brutes being driven wrecklessly or without undue respect for it's power.
GRB, there were pictures of a totalled C6 ZO6 on the Net about a week and half ago... upside down and jammed under the back of a semi trailer.
So it's already happening.
I've got a bad feeling that these 3,100 lb., 500HP monsters are going to be the beginning of the end of high powered street cars.

Tums won't stop an idiot from killing himself or even worse; taking innocent people with him. If I were GM I would seriously consider liability waivers and/or high performance driving school. There are a lot of blood thirsty lawyers out there.

Can't sue the gun manufacturers for individuals by their own free will using a gun to kill another person, can't sue the fast food resturaunts for sloth over in the corner throwing Quarter pounders down his throat like they were tic tacs and ending up dying of blocked arteries, can't bleed anymore money from the tobacco companies for people continuing to "Light-Up-to-Lung Cancer", and it looks like we've milked this asbestos thing for all we can... who can we sue next?
Pretty soon there will be no one left except the lawyers ... can't wait to see them turn on one another!!!
It will be like a drug bust with a bunch of teenagers...

What about the old (young) man (woman) who buys a new (insert your own choice here) car and totals it on the way home from the dealership??? It probably happens often enough but doesnt get any ink. It seems as though the earth is falling but its just the availability of info and what people find interesting. However, the driving school comment does have great merit. Isnt it Porsche that offers high speed track education for thier new owners at a reduced rate???.......Bill S

I read the C&D Z06 v Viper last night. They mention a chassis that doesn't know how to communicate and snap-over-steers. Also, only qualified drivers should be handed the keys.
I've read that the new Delphi stability-control is not as intrusive as before. I'm not sure that was a real good idea for a 3,200 lb. 505hp car. You would think that in this litigious society they would have done the opposite. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Personally I like it and will own one when GM gets the bugs worked out and the price bottoms out. I paid MSRP for my 02 Z06 and won't do that again.
There are strong rumors that GM will SC the car to over 600hp next. That will be the vette for me. BUT <---big BUT, I will respect the power and responsibility that car will require from day one. Bill, you're correct. Heck, read the Shelby registry about Cobras. Some were totaled and people were killed during a test ride from the dealer.

I read somewhere that in 86% of wrecks involing Shelby Cobras, were fatal! Naming it as the deadliest car ever sold to the public! Does the article say anything about the fate of the driver of the Enzo, more than likely dead, and if he isn't he probably wishes he was!
According to reports both occupants were......parted out.
