Just recently purchased a 1968 Nickey Camaro. I know very little about these cars. The original 427 is gone and now a 396 resides. Does anyone have production figures on the 1968 Nickey and know what the current value range is for this car. Thank You for any help on these. I will get a pic tomorrow to post.

Welcome to the site. Nice find. What documentation do you have? Without having more info there is no way for someone here to give a value.

I really don't even know what I am looking for. It has the Nickey sticker on the rear. The owner we purchased it off has owned it since the mid 70's. Has a different hood than I have seen before and has 427 emblems. The original engine is gone. Is there anything specific I should be looking for if it is a Nickey.

Without some original documentation, it will be next to impossible to prove it is a real Nickey 427 Camaro. If properly documented, it would be worth north of $200K. Without, maybe $20K - $30K if it is really nice. Welcome to the site and let's see some pics.

There are no numbers to check. No one documented these cars when they were built. No special tags, no special vin??
Sounds like a lot of clones waiting to happen. I will shoot over and get some pics tomorrow and you guys can determine. Does anyone even know how many were made.

Welcome to the site. Any history showing it as a Nickey in years past would be great to have with the car. I would talk to the guy you got it from and see if he has any old pics you can copy. Also ask him if he could write you a letter detailing the history that he remembers about the car. If he will write the letter pay for him to have it notarized. Does he remember where he got it ? You have a bunch of us drooling on our monitors waiting for pics. As for production I bet the # is very low.

Paperwork and owners history are the Key for 68's be it from Nickey/DANA/Harrell/Yenko

Any old Invoices that show the 427 swap would be the goldmine as long as the invoices showed it was for the car you picked up.

Is it a LA or NOR car?
Whats the VIN and Cowl Tag info?

I am heading back to talk to the previous owner tomorrow and get some more info and possible dig up some paperwork. I will drop back tomorrow night with pics and the info. I have been trying to get some info on these cars. Very scarce stuff. Is is safe to say there are alot less of these then Yenkos as I can find much more info on the Yenkos. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
