Did anyone happen to snap any pics of Mike G's Grumpy's Toy VIII? I've been itching to see it.

His car was out this weekend at Chevy Vettefest. The car is dynamite!

Sorry Fred, the motor is built like da Grump raced the car most, with a "mountain motor" iron block. He was never satisfied with the performance of the aluminum blocks, and, found the weight advantage to be negligible. The heads are the last set of 074 heads that he used on this car. Thanks to Jude for finding them, and, selling them to me.

In the trunk was the original signed helmet that Grumpy wore when he drove this car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well, I now have a new desktop background. Those Pro Stock '70 Camaros look so tough, this one being the most famous one of all. Would love to see it in person. The Grump was so full of tricks, I would love to hear his confessions on this car.

Yeah, but Kim: is it the right *shade* of white? LOL! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That car is top shelf...a rolling history lesson...almost like hallowed ground...I know you've got some cool toys, Mike, but of the ones I've seen *this* might just be my favorite! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Small observation:

Anyone see anything odd about that endura RS nose on this car? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gifNot like any I've ever seen and certainly not like mine.

I know the RS setup is much heavier than the standard nose. All your Trans-Am and most drag racing guys opted for the standard front end with RS bumperettes based on the weight savings. It almost looks like a standard,non-RS chrome grille surround to me because the RS piece is about twice as deep as the standard piece.

Or is it just me... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

First of all John, it is a vintage all glass front end, just the way it was in '70. The "RS" nose illusion is created by pinstriping. It is not a seperate piece. The picture you're looking at has an odd perspective. The grill surround is much deeper than it appears. Thanks for your small observation. By the way, you should have seen his smile when he had Linda Vaughn leaning against the car for a picture.

My 70 Gibb car has standard glass front end and RS bumpers on it. That's the way it was built and raced. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Beautiful car, Mike, it looks like a great restoration! That's awesome having the heads on it that the Grump ran!
Thanks for sharing, will you bring it to SCR9?
